1979 BMW 320i with 32k miles

With all the E30 frenzy, I think it’s an opportune time to entertain that 3 series legend’s predecessor, the E21. Slightly hampered by the fact it only offered two doors and a fuel injected four-cylinder engine of modest output, it was nonetheless a member of the “Ultimate Driving Machine” family. That is, to say, it had impeccable build qualily along with handling characteristics that would run rings around much of its contemporary competition. I’m not sure where or how cars like this 320i for sale in California crop up; it seems like such an unlikely specimen for preservation status. But for someone seeking 3 series genesis, you have hit gold.

This is a very clean, original, and in its own right rare 1979 BMW 320i with 35,132 miles. This is a California car that has seen very little use and no neglect. The mileage is represented by the condition and originality of the BMW. Everything from the engine bay to the wheels represents a car that is very original and in very good/excellent condition. The date on the Micheline tires are from 1987 and look like they are new with no signs of cracking. The car drives very well with good power and quiet suspension. The car also has very little wind noise at highway speeds probably due to the softness of all the window gaskets. Please contact me if you have any questions. I will delete any bids from bidders with a ZERO score unless you contact me prior to your bid. This little car is very impressive and trully is a time warp back to 1979. Throw on your iZod shirt, grab a racket, and head to the club! Tennis anyone? Thank you for looking. https://plus.google.com/photos/108806435260707728615/albums/5942482442513124929?authkey=CJ3XicijnJv89gE

The fact that this 320i is painted Alpinweiss makes all the difference for me, and probably a lot of prospective buyers. Older BMWs had just enough black trim to offset the light color and it sets up a contemporary look. We featured a very mint 320is with similar mileage that was on the market for over $20,000. That was certainly one of the highest values I’ve seen placed on an E21 and way out of the norm for even the most mint examples. Subsequently, bidding reached to $12,100, failing to meet the reserve.

However, with E30 prices on the rise, this could eventually give the E21 some breathing room. At the moment, however, you’ll probably see a 320i like this fetch somewhere between $7,000 to $12,000 at best, if the right bidders take note. For some, even though the model range was a bit limited, this four cylinder compact is an attractive package.

Despite my aversion to white cars, the alpinweiss on this 320i just works. Very attractive E21 there. Why though, didn’t they bother adjust (straighten) the driver side fog light on this very nice car prior to shooting the photos?
