This new year, I pledge to do a LOT more camping. A boat trip to Alaska will guarantee an uptick, but here’s a new Vanagon variant to help lengthen those road trips. This 1980 2.0-liter Vanagon was converted by Country Home Campers, an outfit that did Westfalia-like conversions for some 30 years. It certainly looks like an 80s country home inside, with some nice wood paneling and faux-leather vinyl seats. The air-cooled four has been rebuilt and cosmetically it looks very clean throughout, if not beautiful. The camper top doesn’t reach as far as the Westy’s, allowing for a little moonroof action for those in the front seats. It may not be the most desirable Vanagon, but it has a lot of capability and a low, no-reserve auction.

1980 Country Homes Camper. Original paint. 140k original miles. Three owner van. Original manuals and books. I have all repair and maintenance receipts from original owner starting in 1982. Full Camping interior. Strong running rebuilt 2 liter fuel injected motor with 40k miles. The transmission shifts perfectly. The brakes are good. The van drives nice and does not pull or wonder. This is a great running and driving Vanagon. The interior is in excellent condition and almost looks new. The seat upholstery is in perfect condition both front and rear. The headliner is nice with no rips. The dash has no cracks. New carpet just installed in camping area. The rear seat does fold down into a full bed, there is a full bed up top in the pop top area as well. This is a full camper with propane stove, electric fridge and sink. This van also has a sunroof, brand new heavy duty battery, truck rated tires with good tread.
This is a awesome running and driving fully functional Vanagon camper. Perfect for some one wanting a solid running Vanagon Camper but at a reasonable price point. This van needs nothing mechanically and would be perfect for cross country camping adventures or a reliable daily driver.
This could really be a great value for someone looking for a fully functioning Vanagon camper that won’t break the bank. Right now it’s looking like it’ll be hard pressed to break $10k. At that price, it’s a steal.
