1984 Porsche 911 Carrera

When looking for a value within the 911 range the best place to start is usually a higher mileage 1983 911SC or a 1984 3.2 Carrera just like the one we have here. While few, if any, 911s are what we’d consider “cheap” these days, those two years still possess an excellent combination of price, style, and performance without attracting too much attention from collectors. For many the 1984 3.2 Carrera may be the preferred choice given the improved engine, but each has its merits and both are sure to please their future owners. Here we have a Grand Prix White 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, located in Atlanta, with 143,748 miles on it in addition to some nice options including sport seats and a set of color-matched Fuchs. On many colors of the 911 I can do without the color-matched Fuchs wheels, but on Grand Prix White I find it particularly eye-catching.

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this very clean example of a 1984 Porsche 911 sunroof coupe. It’s a two-owner car, and the current owner purchased it from a Porsche dealer in 1986 with 9,000 miles; it has always been garaged and very well cared for since.

Mostly dealer serviced with extensive records to new, all service is up to date. Clean CarFax with no accidents. Attractive Grand Prix White over black interior with factory sport seats. Original paint shows very well; nice interior with minor wear on outer driver’s bolster but no tears or cracks, no dash cracks.

Factory sport suspension. Unusual, documented dealer options including turbo 7 and 8 inch color-matched Fuchs with painted centers, FitiPaldi steering wheel, spoilers, lowered and balanced and Clifford alarm (to the tune of $12,000 over the base price in 1984 — see dealer supplement in photos).

Very dry underneath with no known service needs. Original 3.2 runs very well; 915 transmission was rebuilt 15,000 miles ago. Newer Michelin Pilots and recent brakes. Original books, tools and gloves included. This two-owner 911 with fantastic documentation and records shows as a car with half the miles and is a pleasure to drive.

Overall this is a really nice looking Carrera that checks most of the boxes for what we look for as a value. However, at this mileage it isn’t priced accordingly. There are some nice options on it that will surely come at a premium, but still at over 140,000 miles mid-$30,000 is a bit high. If that price can be knocked down into the mid- to high-$20,000 range then I think we’d see this car sell and some owner would be quite happy.
