1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with 25,440 miles

This is kind of similar to yesterday’s 911 I featured. It’s a totally different model obviously, but comes in a very similar color palette – including the somewhat frustrating monochromatic combination – and has low miles. Even lower miles in fact. So if those colors are your thing, but you’d rather have the classic 911 design rather than those of the more modernized 964 this could be worth a look. I don’t think it’s price will be quite as insane either, though we never can tell with any very-low-mileage 911. The premiums sought can be insane.

So what do we have here? A Ruby Red Metallic 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with Burgundy leather interior and just 25,440 miles on it. 1984 served as our introduction to the 3.2 Carrera as the replacement for the 911SC. Changes were somewhat limited, especially in this first model year when the interior seating was carried over from the SC, but you did get a small bump in displacement and corresponding bump in power. As we’ve discussed a few times on our pages, your choice of 911SC or 3.2 Carrera comes down somewhat to preference between the two models, but mostly should come down to finding the best available condition in either model. Both are great; both offer stout reliability in a classic 911 package.

1984 Porsche 911
HERE IS A BEAUTIFUL 1984 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA COUPE. FINISHED WITH A RUBY RED METALLIC EXTERIOR AND BURGUNDY LEATHER INTERIOR. DRIVEN JUST 25,440 CAREFUL ONE FAMILY OWNED MILES SINCE NEW. OPTIONS ON THIS 911 CARRERA COUPE INCLUDE A 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, POWER SUNROOF, FUCHS ALLOY WHEELS, CRUISE CONTROL AND MUCH MORE.

THIS ULTRA LOW MILEAGE 1984 CARRERA COUPE JUST UNDERWENT A COMPLETE OIL AND FLUID SERVICE WITHIN THE LAST 20 MILES AND IT DRIVES EVEN BETTER THAN IT LOOKS. THIS CARRERA HAS BEEN SERVICED (FULL DOCUMENTATION AND RECEIPTS ACCOMPANY THE CAR) FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS BY THE FAMED RENNWERKE LTD. IN ELMSFORD NEW YORK. THE 6 CYLINDER ENGINE IS STRONG AND POWERFUL AND THE 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFTS PROPERLY THROUGH ALL OF THE GEARS. THE STEERING IS TIGHT AND PRECISE AND THE BRAKES FEEL JUST GREAT. ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS WORK PERFECTLY AS WELL. THIS REALLY IS A FANTASTIC 911 TO DRIVE.

THE INTERIOR IS REALLY NICE. THE BURGUNDY LEATHER SEATS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION (SEE PICTURES) SHOWING JUST MINIMAL WEAR TO THE SEATS. THE DASHBOARD IS VERY NICE (SEE PICTURES) WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE HAIRLINE DASHBOARD CRACK (VERY COMMON ON 911’S). EVEN THE CARPETS DON’T LOOK OR FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN STEPPED ON THANKS TO THE FLOOR MATS THAT HAVE BEEN PROTECTING THEM.

THE EXTERIOR IS WHAT REALLY SETS THIS ORIGINAL MILEAGE 1984 CARRERA APART FROM THE REST. THE ALL ORIGINAL RUDY RED METALLIC PAINT IS STILL BRIGHT AND SHINY WITH PLENTY OF LUSTER. THERE ARE SEVERAL SCRATCHES (SEE PICTURES) THAT HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP ALTHOUGH WE CHOSE TO LEAVE THE PAINT ORIGINAL AS IT LEFT THE FACTORY IN 1984. EVEN THE OPTIONAL FUCHS WHEELS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AS ARE THE TIRES.

THE 1984 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA REALLY IS THE ULTIMATE AIR COOLED SPORTSCAR. IT HAS TIMELESS LOOKS, GREAT PERFORMANCE AND ALL OF PORSCHE’S LEGENDARY SAFETY, BUILD QUALITY AND RELIABILITY. I HAVE OWNED A LOT OF OLDER 911’S, BUT THIS ULTRA LOW MILEAGE EXAMPLE HAPPENS TO RUN AND DRIVE VERY WELL. THERE ARE SOME TYPICAL “APOLOGIES” WITH THIS 911 THAT ARE TO BE EXPECTED ON ANY 34 YEAR OLD CAR. THERE ARE THE PAINT SCRATCHES AND TOUCH UPS (SEE PICTURES), THE DASHBOARD CRACK (SEE PICTURE) AND A BIT OF HEADLINER PEEL NEAR THE POWER SUNROOF (SEE PICTURE). PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ME (MATT 516-658-4048) WITH ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. THE PICTURES DON’T DO THIS 1984 911 CARRERA COUPE JUSTICE, IT REALLY IS THAT NICE!!! I AM LISTING THIS PORSCHE WITH A VERY FAIR RESERVE SO PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU INTEND TO BUY!!! DON’T MISS THIS ONE!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

This 911 shouldn’t look as subdued as it does. Though a darker red, Ruby Red can really pop in the sun and I wish we saw some pictures taken outside rather than in this garage. It looks fine here and does represent the color, it just isn’t showing it in its best light. Dark reds don’t typically command as much attention as something like Guards Red and I think here we sort of can see why. I will admit I fall into the same boat and prefer my reds to be pretty bright, but Porsche has offered colors like this throughout the 911’s history and they do have their fans. I wish this one were let loose to shine a bit.

For a car with such low mileage it isn’t perfect. We’re shown a couple obvious blemishes, including some tears or peeling where the headliner and sunroof come together and a crack in the dash. The seller has been forthright in showing these so buyers can know what they’re getting into and they aren’t the sort of thing that should make you run away, but flaws are flaws and as always will engender additional questions.

Enough with the negatives though. For a 35-year-old 911 this Carrera does look pretty great and if the reserve is fair, then it should make for a nice opportunity. It is said to come fully documented and the ad states it comes from one family, though I’m guessing not necessarily one owner. It clearly hasn’t been driven much over the years so those records should help us piece together the details and insure its servicing has been carried out appropriately. Hopefully that all checks out (along with a good PPI) and someone can get themselves a nice first-year Carrera.
