1988 BMW 325ix Touring

For proof that automobile enthusiasts often don’t make much sense, one doesn’t need to look much farther than the E30 325ix Touring. Built on exactly the same formula as yesterday’s Passat 4Motion, while enthusiasts will look upon that car generally as an overpriced oddity, pop a clean ix Touring onto their computer screen and wallets begin to fly. Understandably, there’s a style difference between the Volkswagen/Audi products and the highly sought after E30 Touring, but honestly does this car do anything appreciably better than a S4 Avant? I can only think of one thing – it generates income for the seller:

CLICK FOR DETAILS: 1988 BMW 325ix Touring on eBay

Year: 1988
Model: 325ix Touring
Engine: 2.5 liter inline-6
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Mileage: 140,408 mi
Price: Reserve Auction

Up for sale is this very rare 1988 BMW 325XI Touring.
It is Royalblau Metallic with the design edition black and blue interior.
Optional 5 speed manual trans, mated to the M20B25 6 cylinder engine.
AWD.
226km on the odometer.
Runs like a top, was recently tuned up, all fluids were changed along with the timing belt. New brake master and clutch master cylinders. Just had brand new pads and rotors installed all around along with new rear calipers. Lowered on H&R springs, M-tech replica front lip, sunroof, lots of other options. BBS wheels in the last picture are not included.
The vehicle was imported this vehicle last year under the 25 year exemption and it has a clear NJ title in my name. Only bad things is the vehicle does not have A/C and the blower motor is currently not working.

This E30 Touring is very rare, and with the options, mostly likely the only one out there. Don’t miss out on this chance to own a very rare beauty that was never available in the USA until now.

$500 deposit due within 24 hours of the closing of the auction with full payment required within 5 days. Buyer arranges shipping. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells beforehand. If you are local, are serious with the means to afford this vehicle and would like to see the car in person, please contact me to arrange a time to come by.

Thank you for looking!

Also just had the exhaust replaced with a new one.

That’s not to discount the condition of this example, which certainly looks like one of the nicer E30 ix Tourings we’ve seen and the manual is definitely a plus. The stellar color combination also helps, though I’m not a fan of the wheels. Pop some Euroweaves on this, though, and the look would be just about spot on to me. Condition outside and inside looks to be relatively top notch and is helped by some great photography, but under the hood honestly looks a bit tatty and the HVAC isn’t working. That hasn’t stopped active bidding past $12,000 with the reserve still on. Again, like the Passat, does it make sense? No, but like the Passat there’s a subset that really loves these Tourings and is willing to pay.

Thanks to our readers Andrew and Bret for sending in these suggestions!

Really.. Over $12 Grand for a “Rare” wagon with 140,000 miles and nearly 30 years old… Really?

People like what they like. As an E30 touring owner if I had the money I’d buy it. Not nearly as crazy as what every 911 is going for if you wanna get into the whole BMW vs VAG thing 😉 But of course if I had the money to buy any 911 I would too. Cool car thanks for posting it Carter.

Ditto Oolong. But I really like that interior. It’s a beautiful car albeit overpriced IMO. Thanks for the post Carter. Breaks up the Porsche monotony on GCFSB a bit 😉
