1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL with 39k miles

Last weekend, we featured a pair of clean 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SELs that were an instant turn on for any fan of the 1980s and the peak of Mercedes-Benz engineering prowess. If you don’t need the V8 power but want the extra length of the long wheelbase W126, here is a very low mileage 1989 300SEL for sale in New Jersey that is bound to channel your inner executive.

1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 39,383 mile original owner. This car looks the way it did when it left the showroom. It has never seen snow or rain and has always been garaged with a cover over it. The radio does not work. Just never bothered to have it checked out.

The color combination and engine might not be the most striking for this particular model, but I like the idea of the 3.0 liter straight six under the hood, as most of what I would be doing is relaxed cruising with a car like this. A bit more information would have been helpful from the seller, especially on what looks to be a very well-preserved, fresh example of a W126. The 560SEL we saw a few days ago was priced just shy of $19,000, so $15,000 isn’t too unrealistic but at the top of the range for what you could expect to spend on a very nice example of this particular derivative of S class. When I think of what new cars are out there that can be had for $15,000, the idea of taking a chance on a 25 year old Benz like this seems infinitely more attractive, regardless of maintenance costs.
