1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL

The nice thing about the W126 platform S-class is that you can still find a car suit to suit every budget. A quick look on local Craigslist throws up several examples in various states of repair for a few grand. And some of them look pretty clean. But of course, as the old adage goes, there’s nothing as expensive as a cheap Mercedes. And cars at that end of the market, particularly the V8s, are likely to need some costly repairs at some point or another, just as a matter of course. But what if you were in the enviable position of having an unlimited budget and a desire for a W126 in almost brand-new, showroom condition? What kind of money would you have to spend, and what would it get you? Perhaps this mint condition, range-topping 560SEL with an incredibly low 39k miles on the odometer is the answer.

You are viewing an amazing example of this 1989 Mercedes 560 sel sedan with only 39,593 actual miles. The car has been a New Mexico car its whole life up until a month ago. It is Originally a 2 owner car. It was owned by a Gentleman in the oil business. It was his wife’s car and they divorced and his neighbor bought the car from him and owned it for the last few years. This car has always been a Garage queen and dealer serviced. It looks as it left the showroom in 1989 and still smells like a new car when you open the door.

The color is very rare for a 560 sel. Its called Black Pearl and its stunning. The Original paint has a deep gloss shine with no dent’s ,scratches or chips. The chome on the car is also like new and has no damage or scratches. The bumpers are exceptional as well .

The interior is Black leather and its like new. The seats are super soft and show nearly zero wear. Only slight marks you would find in sitting in any high quality leather seat. No wear marks . The carpet is pristine as is the headliner , dash and door panels. The wood is crack free and has a nice gloss to it still. Foot pads are located on the floor in rear seat area..

Inside the car you will find everything to be working properly. The Climate control switches from heat to Ice cold Ac. Its still the Original R 12. The car comes with the Original Becker Radio with cassette that works perfect as does the power antenna. power window’s ,power sunroof and even the cruise all work perfectly.

Mechanically she is a Gem as well. The car starts up and idles very smooth. You will notice all the Original Cadium on the engine compartment showing its true low mileage state. The engine compartment is very detailed and looks like when new. It was just serviced with new oil, new Bosch Fuel pump’s and a new battery. Brakes and tires are less then 5000 miles old and in excellent condition.

If you have been looking for a showroom condition 560 sel sedan then you just found it. This car is only increasing in value and is truly one of the best cars ever made. Nothing like the 560 sel holds the road today. It truly is one of the best highway cars out there. It safe reliable and screams out class. I am pricing this Rare car to sell. I know it will not last long. Please read my feedback as I take pride in selling amazing cars. Call me if you have any questions . Steve 954-464-3515

Car has perfect car fax and auto check. I will include both with purchase..

I Have clear title from New mexico. all the Original books , 2 keys , wallet key , Original window sticker. The original Cassette from Mercedes introducing the car etc. Full size spare and tool kit . Medical kit which was never opened.

In keeping with the story about it being first owned by a “gentleman in the oil business,” this 560SEL appears to have been very well specified at the time of delivery. The pearl black/blue-black (199) paint – my favorite color on these – looks gorgeous over a black leather interior, while a VIN check shows that the car was optioned with an upgraded premium sound system, rear footrests and heated front and rear (!) seats. Nicely cosseted passengers will be propelled to cruising altitude speeds by the range-topping 5.6 liter V8 block under that long hood up front.

The listing contains a large number of high resolution images showing a near-immaculate interior and exterior. I really can’t find any flaws other than a few small scratches on the front bumper and some light wear to the driver’s seat. Bidding is already strong at around $16k. It’s not a stretch to think this will sell for the near $25k asking price. What a lovely example of timeless and stately car. They certainly don’t make them like they used to.

Front and rear heated seats, the “upgraded” stereo and the rear foot rests were standard equipment in the 560 SELs.
Only options available were ASR, rear sunshade and velour as a no cost option.

Gorgeous car and my favorite color for the outside, although I really like lighter-colored interiors to contrast a little – preferably Palomino.

If this goes for close to as much as they are asking, it looks like the sedans might be starting to follow the climb in values of the coupes – about time these got recognized for the great cars they are.
