1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe

I’ve shown a lot of high-priced cars lately (this can be hard to avoid with 911s) so let’s get back to basics with this Marine Blue Metallic 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe with 84,463 miles on it. The Linen Grey interior provides stark contrast with the exterior and the overall combination reminds me a lot of color palettes more familiar on the 3.2 Carrera. Of course, with the ’90 MY we aren’t far from those Carreras at all so the relationship makes sense. Regardless of model it’s a very attractive combination that I’m sure will turn quite a few heads and the condition of this one looks very good.

The most glaring issue with this 911 is a seeming lack of documentation. The ad tells us little. There do appear to be some records and maintenance stamps, but we’ll need a more thorough look to judge its current state. There’s isn’t much that immediately stands out as problematic so I don’t expect we’d find much to be overly concerned about, but it’s a 26-year-old car and with age comes problems. I assume the wheels aren’t the originals since they appear to be the Cup II wheels from the 993, but they work very well on the 964. While the original wheels would be nice, I’m not sure complete originality should be our end game here. It’s a basic Carrera with more than 80K miles on it and should come at a reasonable price and make for a very nice driver. Just the sort of thing to cure the seasonal depression that hits during the winter. Well, it’s a cure so long as it isn’t snowing.

  1. This sellers rep is one of the scariest in the air cooled world. I would touch it with a 10 foot pole.

  2. Howard beat me to it. Would never consider buying from these guys

  3. $35k and reserve not met. I wouldn’t call that a “driver.” But with over 80k miles on it, the car isn’t exactly a museum piece or a collection item either.

The lack of documentation coupled with a verbose ad that says essentially nothing about the car would make me be very cautious about the purchase process.

    But it is pretty.

  4. It is pretty. I’m still dreaming of the days when an RS America could be had below $40k. Now I dream of something like this one…. better yet with a cork interior.
