1992 BMW 318i Convertible

Every day I log onto Facebook, I see a few people I know out on the West Coast of the US complaining about the weather this winter. However, it’s been unseasonably warm on the East Coast of the US. To all those on the left coast complaining, I say it’s about time I had a break from the usual. I’ve had a lifetime of bad winter weather. And with warm temperatures comes the desire for drop top motoring. This 1992 318i Convertible for sale is an original California vehicle closing in on 200,000 miles. The great pictures in this ad really do a great job of showcasing just how well-preserved of an E30 this is.

1992 318i convertible
VIN: WBABA7318NEJ12569
Clean Title
Just passed CA smog, registration good until July 2016

Super clean car inside and out, no rust or body damage. I own several old BMWs and I always find myself choosing to drive the 318i convertible. It’s so rewarding to drive whether it’s around town, through the canyons, or even 8-hour road trips up to Northern California. On the highway I get a GPS-verified 30.2 MPG average. This car is very original and so much fun to drive without having to worry about anything. I have driven to San Francisco and back 3 times in the last 2 months without a single issue.

Recent Maintenance

New front shocks
New control arms
New ball joints
New control arm bushings

All troublesome M42 vacuum lines replaced with new OEM parts. Starts, runs, and drives perfectly, tires in excellent shape. Heated seats work great.

A/C does not blow cold, but the electronics and the blower fan do work. I have not yet looked into this.
There is a minor driveshaft vibration from 30-50 mph that you’ll notice if you’re picky.
The dashboard has cracks.
The seats have some minor cracks too, but there are no rips or tears.

I’m only selling because I have too many cars and I’m running out of driveway/street space. I’ve been going back and forth for over a month on whether or not to sell this car, and I really wish I could keep it since it’s so nice, and it took me forever to find. I hope that the next owner will get just as much enjoyment from it as I have.

I’ve always had a hankering to acquire a low mileage 318is from the E30 generation, but this 318i Convertible is scratching that same itch. With a 5-speed and wearing a good patina, this car certainly classifies under cheap thrills. Sure, it won’t have that six-cylinder soundtrack to go along with it, but with the four cylinder/manual transmission combination, it would be a great warm weather daily driver. With all the E30 mods I’ve seen of late, it’s also nice to see one bone stock 3er that’s been used as intended and cared for along the way.
