1992 Mercedes-Benz 500SL

A new week, a new R129. This reason I chose this 500SL was of course this wonderfully 90s color of Teal Blue Metallic combined with Lago Metallic. It’s one of those love it or hate color combinations that are tied to an era. You don’t see a lot of colors like these on new cars, if any. But I think of it like the rainbow of colors from the 70s and 80s that were featured on the W115, W123, R113, and so on. These crazy color combos are now admired over the typical sliver, black or even worse, tan. The thing is, color combinations like this only work if they are taken care of. And this 1992 500SL for sale in St. Louis certainly looks like it was.

This Car runs and drives Unbelievably Well. It comes with the 8cyl. 5.0 L.Engine that has the performance but yet the economy.
It has great power and drives tight. The Transmission shifts smooth, this makes this car a real pleasure to drive. The A/C works great as does everything works as it should.

There may be cheaper ones out there but they are not like this Mercedes Convertible.
This is a beautiful car that has been pampered its entire Life.

This is a very well cared for Two Owner Mercedes 500SL Convertible, with Extremely Low Mileage, and in Beautiful Condition, makes this a “DON’T MISS OPPORTUNITY”!

Outside of this color combo, the dealer only maintenance and repairs is a real strong point of this car. This owner sounds a bit clueless in the auction description with generalizations and even calling this a BMW at one point, so it’s often the best when someone like this takes their car to the dealer and just says ”fix everything”.  The paint pops remarkably well and the interior looks better than most of the ’92s I see for sale.

Asking just a hair under $10,000, this ’92 is priced is fairly competitively. Prices are generally all over the board on the R129 with the cheapest examples being on the wrong side of town for a few thousand bucks, to the baby boomers garage queen in his planned neighborhood who thinks his can sell his 60,000-mile 1996 SL500 for $25,000 because he paid a fortune for it new and ”it’s a Mercedes”. I don’t know what to make of these going into future. They made and sold a ton of these and outside of the M120 V12 cars, they aren’t rare at all. R107 values are trending upwards, but only for the most pristine examples. Having this generation span 12 years meant that almost every two years saw some sort of updates and by the time we hit the end of the generation, almost everything was updated from the original car launched in 1990. So if you fancy the early R129 with a bright color combo and factory service records, this one might be the right car for you.
