1997 Porsche 911 Carrera S

I tend to pay a lot of attention to exterior color. In some ways this is natural since we write about cars we come across online rather than in person and the exterior color typically is our first and most immediate impression. But the issue becomes most compelling particularly when trying to understand why certain models always stand out more in some colors rather than others. Much of this comes down to the accents created by trim pieces, headlight design, wheels, etc., but it does seem to be the case that certain models show better in some colors rather than others. And it tends to be the less exciting colors that this holds true for the most. For instance, I find this Glacier White 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera S to be incredibly striking, even if most white cars rarely succeed in grabbing my attention. This is a case, I think, of the 993 showing really well in white in ways that I cannot really put my finger on and ways that earlier generations did not seem to replicate. Regardless, it’s quite eye-catching.

This car has been in WA state it’s entire life, maintained at Barrier Porsche and Squire’s Autowerke. Recent service at Barrier included all dealer recommended repairs. Car has been driven 10k miles in last 10 years, about 200 since last service.Rear RS wing is an add on and can be removed and original articulating wing installed (all original parts included w/car) The Kenisis Sport Cup wheels are in excellent condition, with the exception of one which I am in the process of researching possible repair (curb rash). Short shift kit installed. All options function as they should. Paint meter shows no signs of repair or paintwork of any kind. Additional information available upon request. Our Porsche certified inspection available as well.

This is not a perfect show car, nor is it a completely original example. That said, it is a very nice example of a late air cooled 911 that is in excellent condition given the age and miles. It is a fabulous driver in excellent mechanical condition. Buyer will need a new set of tires as the ones on car have aged out (2006). We are happy to help facilitate purchase and installation of the tires of your choice.

It looks like the owner has gone for a partial Carrera RS look with the rear spoiler and wheels, but I must say without the front splitter and side skirts it doesn’t look quite right. There’s also the matter of whether this has spoiled the handling balance, but that is an issue that might only surface on the track. Hopefully the new owner will either give it the full RS aero treatment or revert it to its stock look. Otherwise this C2S looks in pretty good shape! Given the mileage the asking price is very much on the high end, especially factoring in the lack of some original details, but we tend to see asking prices for the 993 in general to be pretty ambitious. Bring it down about $10K and it will look like a much more reasonable deal.
