1997 Porsche 911 Turbo

There’s a lot going on with the 993 Turbo. The first 911 Turbo that came standard with all-wheel drive, the first twin-turbocharged 911 Turbo, the first to come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, the first of the production turbos to produce more than 400 hp. And the last air-cooled 911 Turbo. When you combine all of these things with the extremely sexy design of the 993 itself, then it is no wonder that the market for them never really fell off and like the rest of the air-cooled line values now continue to climb. There is still a part of me that wonders how the value of these will play out relative to the various iterations of the 964 Turbo (perhaps excepting the 3.6 Turbos S, whose rarity will always win out), but that will be something played out over quite a few more years. Here we have a 993 aiming for near top-market value: an Arena Red Metallic 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo, located in Washington, with 30,265 miles on it.

Complete Service History to New, 30K service completed, full books w/ stamped service manual, two keys, one valet key, one security key. Rare 993 Turbo
Presented in stunning Arena Red Metallic (H8) over a Classic Grey (TF) full leather interior, this 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo is an ultra-desirable and rare 993 generation Turbo coupe. It is a one owner car that was original sold new in New Mexico and resided in the arid climate there before coming to the Seattle area with it’s only owner. It has been driven only 30,246 miles, and has been kept in climate-controlled storage since new and never driven in the rain. This 911 is absolutely pristine throughout and fully serviced with maintenance records back to new on file. The Park Place LTD Service Center performed a thorough inspection, intermediate service and a compression test that was completed with excellent results.
As desirable as they are rare, 993-generation Turbos are among the most sought after 911s. These Turbos were the first generation to feature standard all-wheel drive, as well a twin turbochargers. The 993 would also prove to be the final air-cooled generation of 911s, with the water cooled 996-generation debuting in 1999. Shoehorned under the considerable rear spoiler, the twin-turbocharged 3.6L engine is factory-rated at 400hp and provides stellar performance even by modern-day standards. 0-60 mph is dusted in a mere 3.7 seconds and the 1/4 mile is an afterthought in just 11.9 seconds at 116 mph. Handling keeps pace with straight-line performance, as this 993 will pull .95g on the skidpad.
The 993 Turbo seen here has been fastidiously kept and cared for by its only previous owner, who went as far as to keep this 911 in climate-controlled storage when not in use. It features a number of highly-desirable factory features, not the least of which is the eye-catching Arena Red Metallic paint. Factory Optional features include a Carbon Fiber Gear Shifter and Handbrake (Y03), AM/FM Radio w/ CD Player(688), 5-CD Storage Shelf (X52), Classic Grey Floor Mats (M6G) and Supple Leather Seats (982). Below the aggressively flared fenders are 18″ Turbo Twist wheels with colored Porsche crest wheel caps (445) and new Porsche N-Spec tires.
This 993 is fully documented with the original purchase documents and service history to new on file. Even the original Porsche Order Book and Window Sticker are on file, and both in superb condition. The full set of owner’s books is also on file, along with two keys, a valet key and one security key. A spotless CarFax history report and copy of the Park Place LTD Service Center inspection and service are also on file.
993-generation 911 Turbos were only produced for the 1996 & 1997 model years, and Porsche built less than 1,100 examples for North America in ’97. These Turbos are a very rare sight on the road and they come up for sale even less often. This eye-catching 1-owner example is one of the finest 911’s we’ve ever come across — bar none. It would be an incredible addition to any collection and is a no-doubt investment opportunity. Call Dave @ 425.503.0980 for more information or to arrange a personal viewing.!

This makes back-to-back 911s I’ve featured in Arena Red as yesterday’s restored Carrera Targa had been resprayed in this fantastic color. Arena Red is one of those great shades for owners who desire a color that will stand apart but without the ostentation of Guards Red. One of the shades of tan interior (perhaps Cork) would strike a near perfect contrast, so ultimately I’d prefer that over the Grey leather we see here, but that’s probably nit picking a bit at what appears to be a very well maintained example. The near-$200K asking price seems a bit high as I’m not sure I’ve seen a 993 Turbo quite reach those heights yet, but from what we have with this car’s predecessors it is only a matter of time.

The first time I drove a Porsche 911 it happened to be a 993 Turbo S that was for sale at Park Place. A gentleman from Colorado contacted me and requested I check the car out for him. Twist my arm :: ow ::

So…if anyone is interested in this machine I’m happy to do it again.

These are one of my dream cars. Sadly prices seem to be moving in the wrong direction for me. I just looked on cars.com and this car seems priced right in the middle. Awesome color. My dream is cobalt blue with black interior.

The escalation of air cooled Porsche prices has been astonishing. I am not saying the seller is going to get this price, but 3-4 years ago this was a $75k car…

Two years ago it was a 75 k car and plain old c4s of the same vintage was a 55k car. I now see people asking nearly 100k for sub 60 k c4s ….
