1998 BMW M3 Sedan

$_57 (1)

Tuner cars can be a scary proposition, with trails of work of unknown quality hiding in places you may not be able to see. At the same time, the lack of originality often drives the price down, meaning you could pick up a lot of fun for reasonable money. I’ve always loved the E36 sedan, and today’s example corrects the E36 M3’s most common complaint of lack of power. Someone put some serious miles on this car, and that leaves even more question marks. More investigation is need, as in “what’s a 90s interior look like after that mileage?” and “what does the E36 suspension look like after 100k miles of burnouts?” But maybe you don’t care, and seeing a 300+whp M3 sedan for the price of average E36 M3s is an open door for the next owner to continue exploring the badass sedan life.

The 3.2L Supercharged engine runs strong and the 5-speed manual transmission shifts properly. The clutch is in good condition and does not slip.

This M3 has a Stage 1 Active Autowerke Supercharger Kit ($4,900). This M3 was tested and produces over 300-WHP! The 3.2L 6-cylinder engine has been professionally rebuilt in last 5k miles.

Receipts are included for the following: Upgraded ARP Head-Studs, Cometic Head-Gasket, New Rings, New Bearings, New Timing Chains, New Timing Rails, and a Valve Job. Additionally, this M3 has been converted to a single mass flywheel with a Heavy Duty Clutch.

The air-conditioning (A/C) blows cold & the heater blows hot. The brakes are in good condition and this 1998 BMW drives straight on the highway with no tire vibration.

This 1998 BMW rides on a set of tires with 8/32 (front) & 8/32 (rear) tread depth remaining (approximately 70%).

This BMW comes with a set of front & rear floor mats. The spare-tire, jack, and lug-wrench are included.

Oh, how the 4-door E36 M3 gets me going! Lose the yellow fogs and the rims and you’ve got a clean-and-mean sleeper. The rebuilt engine checks one thing off the list you won’t have to do, but with 230k miles on a car that’s sure to have been run hard means the list of potential issues is long. With a bunch of questions answered satisfactorily, this could be a fun project to continue, as you’d be hard-pressed to find another supercharged S52 for this price. If nothing else, you could part this out and have one hell of an engine to drop in an unsuspecting chassis; I’m thinking E30 or E28, but there are plenty of options.

on its face it looks like the goods…
but I would need to see receipts for all maintenance AND when was this AA kit installed on this car…
even after all that…a really long PPI…200k+ on the odo w/FI scares the crap out of me…
