1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S

For pure beauty of design it is very tough to find a better example of Porsche’s 911 than the 993 Carrera S. There is a way in which the design takes us back to the 911’s predecessor itself, the 356 Coupe, through its curvier nature. The lines are significantly more taut and of course the entire package is more refined, but the hereditary lines are clear. The C2S enhances the entire aesthetic package of the 993 by utilizing the wider rear of the Turbo, but unlike its sibling the C4S and the Turbo itself the rear-drive layout has been retained. It’s a best of both worlds design: the fullness of the rear silhouette packaged with the simplicity and the, preferred by many, dynamics of rear-wheel drive. It is no wonder then that these models have been so highly prized by collectors and 911 aficionados alike. They were the last of the air-cooled 911s and the last of the more upright greenhouse that has gradually diminished beginning with the 996. The example we see here appears in impeccable condition: an Arctic Silver Metallic 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S, located in New York, with just 21,064 miles on it.

First time being offered for sale is this pristine showroom condition Porsche 911 Carrera C2S. This car has been kept by a collector in a climate controlled garage its entire life. I cant begin to express how clean and original this car is. Never been in any accidents, absolutely no paint work! Original window sticker, original bill of sale, books and all records from Porsche. Only 21,064 On this pristine 1998 C2S That is 1 of 993 built in 1998, in total they only made 1,752 which make is rare and a collectors item. Standard feature included 3.6 liter engine with 282 HP, Varioram resonant induction, Hot film air flow sensor, DME Engine Management system, Dual Exhaust, Rear wheel drive, Muti link LSA rear suspension, Front and rear stabilizer bars, Speed activated rear spoilers, Split rear spoiler grille. Options included are Artic silver metallic paint, black interior, Torque limited slip with ABD, Power seat package, Motor sound package, 18″ wheels w/Technology rims, Rear window wiper, HI-FI sound pkg.

This C2S presents as we’d expect from a low-mileage example housed in a collection for its entire life. It appears to be well documented and original. All of that is excellent and suggests this 911 should command a pretty high price. Whether it can command this high of a price, which is essentially top dollar for a C2S, I’m less sure. We certainly have seen low-mileage examples of the C2S and C4S reach significantly higher figures than those with some miles on them, but while 21K miles is definitely low it isn’t in the sub-10K category that really tends to attract notice. Also, if we’re honest, silver over black isn’t the most exciting color combination nor the most likely to command a premium. So this does appear to be an excellent example, but I’m not sure it can reach this sort of dollar figure given how the air-cooled market has begun to slow.
