1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S

The 993 needs little introduction from me as its virtues have been extolled throughout these pages. It represents the culmination of 30 years of air-cooled 911 evolution and the car featured here comes from the final year of the model’s production. This 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S, located in Florida, has seen a scant 25,000 miles and as a S model comes with the wider rear of the 993 Turbo that provides an extra bit of sexiness to the 993’s already fantastic shape. A well cared for 993 remains a head turner even to this day especially in S trim. The market has been fairly kind to these cars thus far and as the last of the air-cooled 911s we expect that trend to continue.

I’ll just get this out of the way: the Buy It Now price is too high. Nearly $90,000 is getting into 993 Turbo money, which this is not. With that said, this is a low mileage example of a car that has a very good chance of doing well by collectors in the coming years. It appears immaculate both inside and out and there’s definitely value to be had here. As an investment, I’d say this wouldn’t make a bad car, but as with any investment you have to get in at the right price otherwise you’re already paying the appreciated cost. This is a lovely car though. The wider rear of the Turbo body looks fantastic here as it is accentuated by the depth provided by the Black paint. A great car and the last of the air-cooled models, all that needs to be sorted is the cost.
