1999 BMW Z3 2.8 Coupe

For those bewildered at the fact that M Coupe prices are skyrocketing, here’s a pleasant surprise. A Z3 coupe with a 5-speed manual for right around $10,000. While it has over 100,000 miles on the clock, it looks tidy enough. It might not have the grunt of the 3.2 liter inline-6, but the 2.8 liter engine with its 190 horsepower is certainly no slouch in such a small package. This example for sale in Houston may be unassuming in Arctic Silver over black leather, but one go in the twisties will have doubters signing a different tune.

The Z3 Coupe has certainly benefitted from the popularity of the M Coupe in recent years, but I tend to doubt that even some BMW enthusiasts may have overlooked that a non-M version of the E36/8 was produced. Considering the other sports cars available at $10k, this Z3 Coupe is an interesting alternative to your usual sports car. For an M Coupe of similar mileage and vintage you would pay at least $5,000 more for the //M badge. Find a lower mileage M Coupe or one of the late model examples with the S54 engine and you’ll pay well into the $20k range, if not above $30,000. Some mint examples of the M Coupe with under 40,000 miles are even fetching more than $40,000 currently. While this Z3 Coupe might not have that extra oomph, that’s a big premium over a car like we see here which can provide a lot of smiles per mile.

Those wheels could be in a Soul-Glo commercial.

The car looks well presented. Cost to ship in an enclosed transporter?
    Offer around 9000.00. US?
