2001 Audi S3 Euro-Import: Be the King of Your Audi Club!

I’ve only seen one other Audi 8L bodied car for sale in the U.S., and it was an Audi A3, not the S3. This would be a seriously fun ride and one that most Americans never had a chance to experience.

2001 Audi S3 Gray Market import on Portland Craigslist:

quote from seller’s Craigslist posting:

It is registered and titled as a 2001 Audi S3.

Car is a late model 2001 Audi S3. The late model S3’s had major upgrades over the earlier S3’s, such as the revised front end with better Xenon Headlights, Full Factory Recaro interior, revised climate control systems, better airbags, etc.

Includes the 210 BHP engine, Haldex based Quatrro System, basically this car has a R32 drive train except for the engine.

When I check the ETKA Audi VW Parts system it has the same brakes (down to the same part number), shocks, etc.. I am pointing this out because getting service parts for this car will not be an issue, its as simple as knowing the right Audi (TT 225) or VW (R32) to cross reference too.

When I bought this car I put about $10k into it. That’s right about $10k. I literally rebuilt the car to new car specs.

New Instrument cluster in MPH. I did this for two reasons, one I wanted a speedo in MPH, makes it easier to know how fast you are going, second, anyone who has owned a newer Audi knows the FIS of the Audi clusters eventually die, since I knew I would be installing a factory Audi DVD Navigation system, I wanted a perfect cluster for it to work with , the Nav info shows on the center instrument cluster also, so having one without dead pixels is very important

At $25k, you’ll have to be a hardcore Audi enthusiast to make the leap — but if you are, the exclusivity is bar none with this car. And it actually delivers with 210hp and all wheel drive, making for the ultimate hot hatch! {re-read this paragraph as John Davis from Motorweek and it almost sounds convincing!}

    I am a soldier here in Germany an I have the 2001 a3 quattro. The S3 in mild form. I was wondering how you got it back to the states. And what mods you had to do it to be allowed to be imported from Germany? Also if you or anyone need a POC to get a hard to find part let me know.
