2001 BMW M5

The 2003 BMW 525i M Sport we featured on Monday could be considered a lot show for not much dough, looking very similar to its M5 sibling while offering more economy and substantially lower operating costs. But what if you want the real McCoy? Is a higher mileage M5 a good bet? Here’s an Emerald Green example closing in on 135,000 miles for sale in Georgia at a tempting price.

This listing is for a true German powerhouse that has been kept in exceptional original condition with no 3rd party accessories or modifications. Exterior is 9/10. Minimal scratches and no major dents or dings. All rims are in excellent original condition with no curb rash. Tires have been recently replaced, with Pirellis of course. Interior on this car is 9/10. Black leather with no tears or rips. Steering wheel has beautiful multi colored “M” stitching. Car is equipped with Factory BMW Navigation. Please feel free to email with any questions.

The E39 M5 is one of those sought after sport sedans that has a cult following. With that comes a wealth of information on what to look out for when purchasing one. Anyone considering a higher mileage example like this should invest in a PPI. Given the exterior and interior condition of this car, it looks like it wasn’t abused too much. Green might not be to everyone’s liking for such a beast, but if you’re looking for one on the lower end of the value scale, this could be your chance.

M5 badge is in the wrong place

    could be a re-paint or just a debadge/sloppy re-badge

@Nick – excellent call about the badge..my money is on a re-spray and original badge reuse since it looks rather faded too. That kind of thing would tick me off if it was my own car.

Good call, Nick, my eyes deceived me on that one. Surely a sign that some body work may have taken place.

    nice car….just poorly presented…
while 12.5k BIN price may or may not seem like alot…you better invest in a PPI by someone well versed in S62’s & M5’s in general….otherwise you will be upside down & sideways really fast…
btw this is Oxford Green Metallic…no such color as Emerald…unless it is a paint to suit color…
standard executive trim….no extended leather….pixels all there(nice)….as someone pointed out the badge is askew…
@135k make sure ALL general maintenance has been addressed….and then you look at the weakness areas…clutch…VANOS rattle….and the worst is the MAF’s from Carbon Build up….
BUT if this puppy was well maintained/documented….the S62 is a wonderful piece of engine that will go for a long time
