2006 Mini S JCW GP for Sale in San Jose

January 23, 2010 by Aaron

Stumbled across this 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW GP for sale in San Jose.  I have been looking for something with four seats to compliment the 986 and the Mini seems like a reasonable choice.  By reasonable I mean it is a vehicle that is newer, reliable, and more likely to be driven by my better half than a 944 Turbo.  Those of you who are familiar with Mini nomenclature may have heard of the John Cooper Works package, a tuning and design package that is comprised of factory appearance and go fast bits.  Off the showroom floor the JCW package will set you back an easy $4-5K.  The GP cars are something entirely different, limited to a production of 2000 cars with only 415 coming stateside.  While being hand assembled in Italy the GP cars are stripped of over 100 pounds of excess weight while the engine is massaged to produce 218 horsepower.  That takes the Mini to 60 in a scant 6.5 seconds while delivering fuel efficiency of 32 mpg.  Consider me intrigued…

A rare car, miles of smiles, and an extended warranty make for a very desireable car.  However, $28.4k for a used Mini regardless of trim level is too much money.  Given the narrow market for this car the buyer is going to have to find just the right person (sucker) to take it off his/her hands for that price.  I have driven a Mini Cooper S and it is an absolute hoot to drive, I cannot imagine how much fun the GP is.  If the owner is flexible on price and they can get someone to take a test drive they may have their buyer.

Thats one of the ugliest MINI ever made. Its all about marketing and suckers did buy them. Deleleted rear seats for light weight and the red stock side mirrors is a joke? I wont even pay half that price to own this thing.

This mini gp sold for almost 30k. Another 2 sold on cl for similiar pricing so the market is Still strong for this car. Keep in mind that the new three cylinder turbo diesel engine coming out as well of a slew of other mini specialty cars will either hurt or help the gp price in the market
