2007 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

Remember when the 500 horsepower benchmark was only breached by supercars like the Lamborghini Diablo, Ferrari 575M and Aston Martin Vanquish S? It’s hard to believe that only 10 years later these incredible power figures are now available in family sedans offered by 4 different German marques. The battle of auto egos and the quest for alpha horsepower figures has brought us some pretty interesting cars and one of my favorites is the Mercedes-Benz E63. This example comes in retirement home white making it the perfect slate for a true sleeper.

While BMW tends to go heavy on the sport flare for its M models with side vents, huge bumper intakes and aggressive hoods, Mercedes-Benz has always done it in a very unassuming way. If you take away the badging the E63 AMG is hard to distinguish from its weaker siblings, the only big giveaways being a slightly more aggressive front dam and the thunderous noise emitting from the signature AMG quad exhaust pipes. With 507 horses to dispatch from the glorious hand built V8 you have more than enough power handle most sports cars on the street. I’ve always dreamt of replacing the AMG badges with E320 BlueTEC nomenclature and then terrorizing unassuming people at stop lights and through tunnels.

This 2007 example looks to have been used as a grocery getter and Saturday night bingo player shuttle in Miami. The asking price is a little high but with less than 60K on the clock it’s still a ton of car for the money. The seller will have to come down $3-4K to find a buyer for this creampuff super sedan. In the next 12-24 months I see depreciation sinking these AMGs to low $20,000. Time to sit back and be patient.
