While we do revisits on cars we’ve featured on a regular basis, it’s not particularly often that we get contacted by the buyer of a car we featured – but such is the case today, and when it was such a desirable package as the B7 A4 2.0T quattro Avant S-Line Titanium Package with 6-speed manual, we had to take a second look. The new seller moved the car across the country only a few months ago, so East Coast buyers who love these cars will rejoice. They’ve also done much of the maintenance I hinted wasn’t far off back in July; a new timing belt, carbon cleaning, cam follower, and other preventative maintenance enthusiasts would do to keep the car long term and cost nearly $3,000. It’s now ready to serve it’s next owner well as priorities have changed for the seller, and after only 2,700 miles added since July is available at the same asking price as it was despite the value added. You won’t find too many like this come to the market – fully serviced, in impeccable shape and below average miles!

Weirdly, I’m going to say that for me this car is pretty close to the Holy Grail of the B7 model range in the U.S.. That’s strange, because it doesn’t have the most powerful motor, or even the second most powerful motor available. In 2008, Audi still had a pretty stout lineup for wagons. You could still get the S4 Avant, with the screaming 4.2 V8. It’s a neat package for sure, but long term ownership might leave your bank account in the lurch. Then there’s the 3.2 FSi motor; again a great motor which finally produced the power that Audi’s V6 should have. But like the other FSi motors, I’ve heard reports that they’re susceptible to carbon buildup and require regular intervals of being pulled apart and cleaned. Plus, let’s be honest – the finite resources which drive our passion will ultimately be going up in price at some point again. So then there’s the 2.0T turbocharged inline-4; with 200 horsepower in stock form, this was a big GTi effectively. It was, as with the rest of the B7 range, available with a 6-speed manual – imagine that! Then you could select some packages to really make your A4 stand apart from the crowd. First was the pricey S-Line package; at $2,000 over the cost of your normal $32,000 Avant 2.0T, it was a pricey option – but it gave you special 18″ RS-inspired wheels, the 1BE sport suspension, special interior and exterior details along with the multi-functional steering wheel. But then you could opt as well for the Titanium Package; a further $500 added to the price, you got even more special Ronal-made quattro GmbH multi-spoke wheels in a gunmetal color and a tremendous amount of polished black details (odd, that they weren’t titanium….). Not many were ordered in this configuration, which was available in both 2.0T and 3.2, sedan and wagon, and tiptronic or manual configuration; narrow it down to Avants and manuals, and it’s quite hard to find one:

Gorgeous car, inside and out, impeccably cared for. Second owners and had it for a couple of months–it has had no mechanical issues but we have babied it with premium preventative service: carbon clean-out, 75k service, new cam follower, flushed/resealed sunroof drains and a new timing belt. This is one of two A4 Avants in our household, and the nicer of the two. We are a family of five needing our second vehicle to be a larger one and this car being a unicorn, it is easier to sell. A great opportunity for the manual transmission enthusiast! This is the last year the manual avant was made, and an s-line titanium is as rare as they come.

I’ve had a love affair with these 2.0T S-Line Titanium Package Avants since new. Around that time, I bought a set of used snow tires for our Outback from a gentleman who had both a Subaru and a Moro Blue Pearl Effect Avant similarly equipped. It was, and still is, a stunning package in my opinion; I think it’s better looking than the S4s and still ranks as my favorite A4 design. Something was just right between the proportioning and the lowered stance with the big titanium wheels. My only dislike is that you could only get this package with a all-black interior. In Dolphin Gray Metallic, the package isn’t quite as exciting but still looks quite special. These S-Line Titanium Package cars have traditionally held a premium over regular A4 Avants, but to me this one is probably overpriced. Condition is good and all original but miles aren’t exactly low, and it should be at or close to needing engine service. If the price dropped a few thousand dollars, this would be a pretty nice package to pick up. As for me, I’ll continue the search for another Moro Blue or Ibis White example – perhaps the ultimate and appropriately colored unicorn of the B7 range for me.
