1986 Porsche 911 Carrera

In 1987 Porsche introduced a new transmission for the 911 to replace the outgoing 915 5-speed that had been in use for the previous 15 years. The G50 5-speed was a welcome introduction providing increased durability and improved shifting and has consistently been a strong selling point for the later 3.2 Carrera models. This change has also had the effect of slightly suppressing the value of the earlier models, making a 1986 3.2 Carrera an interesting proposition for those in search of driver-quality cars and don’t mind the slightly lesser transmission. The 911 featured here fits into that sphere of driver-quality ’86 Carreras. This Guards Red Coupe, located in Miami, with 137,750 miles should be obtainable at a reasonable discount relative to many other examples we see on the current market.

While the Buy It Now price asked for here is around where we’ve seen similar condition/mileage 3.2 Carreras sell, that tends to apply only to cars that retain their original condition. With the various bits of work done to this car it will probably struggle to reach that sort of price. With that said, for a driver-quality car the overall condition seems good, though like with any car of this nature a PPI is clearly in order. Current bidding is at $16,564, which is still very reasonable territory, and this 911 is sure to have plenty of miles left in it if cared for properly. Perhaps there is still hope for those who were seeking some value on the 3.2 Carrera market.

Wow. A/C delete in Miami – what were they thinking? Just a few too many deletes for a daily driver, but as a track car and Sunday driver (in cooler weather), it’s sure to be a ball.

I get the sense this was someone’s track car and they simply bolted the original seats back in to sell it. The dash and the deletes seem odd to me. A thorough inspection and investigation is definitely needed here…

Yup, that’s not a street car anymore.
