First things first: It’s a base model Boxster, in a pedestrian color combo, and it still only has a 4 cylinder flat-four turbo. If your puritan eyes are already bleeding I understand. But if you’re curious and not easily offended, you might be interested to hear it’s a one owner car and a 6 speed manual. But the best part is the seller is asking just under $36k buy-it-now on eBay. I find that combination pretty interesting suddenly.

Here’s a Forest Green Metallic, Tannengrün, 986 Boxster S with just 51k miles. I think what makes this especially noteworthy is that someone not only special ordered the unique green color, which is relatively rare according to the PCA site Rennbow, they went all the way with green seats as well.

Last year we saw the surprise unveiling of the Porsche Boxster 25 Years which was pretty self-explanatory in terms of what it was all about. It was a 718 Boxster with some special touches to celebrate the original Boxster that debuted in 1997 and most importantly, drive more hype for the brand. Just 1,250 examples were produced and thankfully used the 4.0-liter from the 718 GTS. Just three colors, GT Silver Metallic, Jet Black, or Carrara White, and standard gold wheels. Inside, Bordeaux Red or black leather. The rest of the options were up to you but most were equipped with a handful of nice stuff that pushed the sticker price well over $100,000. I know it sounds crazy to spend that kind of money on a Boxster, but think of this more as a GTS that is individually numbered and has a bunch of equipment only offered on 1,250 cars. Doesn’t seem so crazy anymore.
This example is one of the GT Silver Metallic cars with a Bordeaux Red top and matching interior that I favor given it is closest to the actual concept car. Even better? This is a 6-speed example.
I read a stat recently that 78.5% of the cars sold in the US today are finished in a grayscale color. On top of that, blue was next at 9.5% while red followed up with 8.6%. That isn’t a lot of room for the wild colors. Thankfully, Porsche is saving the day with these wild color combos and the endless list of paint-to-sample selections. Even better, Porsche offers these crazy colors as dealer stock. Today, we roll the clock back 15 years to the 2008 Boxster Limited Edition. 500 examples were produced, 250 each for the Boxster and Boxster S. All of them were finished in “Orange”, which was the same “Orange” on the 2008 911 GT3 RS. Even crazier, they sprinkled some of that extra orange paint on the trim too. Do you want to stick out? Today we have one of the cooler modern Porsches that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough in the 2016 Boxster Spyder. It was a GT car that wasn’t really a GT car technically but everyone raves about them and the prices they command back that up. Find one with lower miles and it’ll still bring around the original sticker price or above, which is actually more than what the brother GT4 commands. Today, we have a very cool example with just 6,600 miles on the odometer. However, this one has one major catch.
