1994 Porsche 928GTS – 5-speed

When discussing 911s I’ve written at times about what I can best describe as a car’s “presence.” That command of an audience that certain cars possess, but not in the manner of supercar audacity. Many cars attract attention because they look wild. Not so a 911 (perhaps the GT3RS excepted). Yet older models do turn heads and among 911 fans their varying levels of presence stands out. It is subjective, certainly, but I think it’s still a quality we can all understand.

The 928, even though one has not been produced in over 20 years, certainly possesses that sort of presence. Heck, on those very rare times when I see one I try to take as much time to look at it as I can. The design seems so beyond its era, yet not even particularly modern. It’s just a great design that works in a variety of time periods and still looks fresh today. Here we have one from very near the end of their 17 years of production, and it also happens to be one of the very rare manual transmission examples on the market: a Slate Grey Metallic 1994 Porsche 928GTS, located in Texas, with 88,454 miles on it.

One-owner, 25K mile, 1974 Porsche 911 Coupe

This is a 911 model that I don’t feature often at all. The 2.7 Carrera from 1974 I’ve featured numerous times. But the basic 911 from that same year? That’s a much more rare feature and it takes something pretty interesting to draw me in enough. See, these aren’t the most beloved of 911s and given that the Carrera does attract a bit of attention I’ve tended to steer toward those. But this one, a one-owner example with very low mileage? That is enough to, at the very least, make we want to keep an eye on it to see where it goes and where the market might be valuing this model. I’ve also really been eyeing these color combinations lately. The numerous 930s I’ve come across in these earthy browns have put them on my radar and add that it has a pretty nice interior color and we might as well delve further.

Another Kermit? 1976 Porsche 930

It seems just about any early 911 that is all green takes on the name ‘Kermit’. We’ve featured what might best represent the true and original example, a Viper Green Metallic 1979 Porsche 911SC. That 911 borrowed its exterior color from VW and it probably comes closest to mimicking the color of the famous frog. The one we see here uses Porsche’s own version of the similarly named color – Viper Green Diamond Metallic. It’s a little bit darker than Kermit himself, but still possesses that same sense of joy that’s really what makes these so appealing to many. That this version happens to be an early 1976 Porsche 930 should absolutely elevate it in the eyes of many collectors.

1964 Porsche 356C Coupe

It’s the holidays, a time for dreaming and wish fulfillment, and a time when we look for those items that we know we really can’t afford.

But maybe we just look at them anyway, momentarily morphing into Clark Griswold spending his Christmas bonus he hasn’t yet gotten.

It’s the time of year to root through the inventory at places like Canepa just to see what sort of interesting and rare cars might catch our notice. Probably my favorite color combination on the Porsche 356 is Slate Gray over Red. It’s a great combination on any Porsche, but for whatever reason I find it particularly stunning on the 356. In part that may be due to Slate Gray being specifically from that vintage, but there still seems something more. Regardless of the reason I love coming across a nice one. Canepa being Canepa they not only had 1 Slate Gray over Red example, but 2! Rather than go for the full insanity of the 356 Carrera 2 Cabriolet they have on offer, I thought I’d keep things a little more attainable with this 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe. Unlike most 356C Coupes, which feature a 1.6 liter inline-4 producing 95 hp, this one has a built Willhoit 2132 cc engine said to put out 145 hp, bringing it nearly in line with the power from the Carrera 2 itself.

Have you ever looked at the McLaren F1’s centrally mounted seating position and thought to yourself, “Yes, this is what I need for my everyday commute”? Well have no fear because a solution has presented itself under the guise of this otherwise fairly basic 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. The cliche is that a picture is worth a thousand words so I will leave it to the pictures to describe this Carrera’s transformation. I won’t lie, things get a little weird.
