Feature Listing: 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

I don’t think I’ve ever featured this 911 model, which given that it’s a basic model seems surprising. I’ve featured the Coupe, but never the Cabriolet. I digress. The 996 finds its way to our pages predominantly because of its excellent performance value relative not only to all other 911s, but to most other performance cars in general. Our focus usually falls upon the 996TT, which significantly ups the performance ante while still maintaining those reasonable prices. But we’ve long been at a point where we really can’t consider those to be inexpensive; they’re just phenomenal performance bargains. When we step away from the Turbo suddenly the prices themselves begin to step into that inexpensive territory. The usual 996 caveats apply; there is a reason they’re much less expensive. Regardless, as a way to experience and appreciate Porsche’s iconic sports car a 996 can make a lot of sense. The example here has a few more miles on it than most we see, but the condition looks good and the price is quite attractive itself. Here we have a Black 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, located a little outside Cleveland, with 149,500 miles on it. That it includes a factory hardtop is a nice plus, especially for those who may plan to use this in a colder climate.

1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera – REVISIT

s-l1600

The Grand Prix White 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera we featured back in May is back up for sale this time with the price reduced by $10K. I don’t know if that reduction will be enough to see it sell, but with its sport seats and wider wheels this 930 has a few interesting options added to what is already a very nice car.

1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S with 3,000 Miles

I’m hoping this 911 can serve as a data point on market values, but I also suspect eBay is not really the right place for these types of cars so we’ll have to see. As the title states, here we have a Glacier White 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S, located in Florida, with a mere 3K miles on the clock. I’ve across a few ultra-low mileage examples of the 993 Carrera S and Carrera 4S and their asking prices always blow my mind. Here we have one available as a reserve auction so I’m curious where bidding will take it. As we’d expect with such a car the condition looks pretty much as new and while I wouldn’t agree with the seller that the White over Grey color combination is the “most desired,” Glacier White is a nice looking color on the 993 and certainly less common than Grand Prix White. I just wish these pictures showcased it better.

1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa

Another day, another Targa. And for whatever reason I’m finding myself very much taken in by this one. This 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa, located in Maryland, brings us back within the realm of the regular 911, but that doesn’t stop it from looking great. Grey/red is a color combination we see frequently across the whole 911 line and my favorite version of it is Slate Grey over a bright red interior (Can-Can or Lobster would do the trick). The 911 we have here takes a slightly different line making use of a darker hue of each. We aren’t provided with the precise colors, though we could hazard a guess that this is Meteor Grey Metallic for the exterior and the interior obviously is Burgundy. The combination works very well and what it may lack in flash it makes up for with understated refinement.

Pastel Blue 1972 Porsche 911S Targa

Earlier in the week I featured a Burgundy 911S Coupe that looked really nice and within that post I discussed the potential relative value of a long-hood 911 in that color versus one of the pastels Porsche produced during that time. Here we have just such a pastel: a Pastel Blue 1972 Porsche 911S Targa, located in California, with Tan interior and a well traveled 135K miles on it. Hopefully it can provide us a nice glimpse into these relative values. It’s also stunningly beautiful. I’ve said before that when these sorts of blues are contrasted with a tan interior they make for one of my favorite color combinations throughout the Porsche catalog. Naturally, this one is no different and I particularly enjoy the combination on a Targa where we can see the interplay of the colors to a greater degree. It’s simply a wonderful and highly desirable combination, and that this is a 911S just takes the entire package to another level.
