The Mercedes-Benz 600, or Grosser Mercedes, is one of those timeless vehicles that needs no explanation. Favored by heads of state, celebrities and well-heeled businesspersons, some 600s are still regularly used to this day, as many believe that even a Maybach can’t stand up to what this car has to offer. Here we have a VERY original, one owner short wheelbase 600 in need of another caretaker for the next 40 years.
The seller states:
Purchased new 11/28/1968. The only 600 ever sold new in Columbus, Ohio. Owned by local attorney since day 1. Always maintained and preserved at the local Mercedes dealership where it always received everything it needed and more as can be attested to by the extensive service file which comes with the car.
Car was recently driven 500 miles to the M100 clubs annual meet where it was recognized as one of the best original cars in existence. Silver with black leather. Paint is mostly original although it has had some touch-ups over the years and an extra door protection strip added. The original black leather is still soft and supple. It has a factory optional sunroof and beverage cooler. It comes complete with all the books and records, the toolkit with all the tools, the hydraulic kit with all the parts, the air suspension kit inside the spare wheel with all the parts, and the spare parts kit in the styrofoam box stored in the left trunk compartment. The tires are almost new Michelins with less than 1000 miles, 205/75/15XL. Everything operates as intended in every system. There are no mickey mouse parts on this car. It has factory original exhaust system in good condition. The chrome is bright and shiny with just a few minor imperfections. The car has absolutely no rust ever.
Today hearing of a Mercedes pushing 500 horsepower, while not really yawn factor, is certainly not surprising. AMG has done an amazing job generating massive power and torque numbers for Mercedes that you can now buy of the regular dealer showroom floor. While big engine big power Benzs have been a hallmark of the company for years they were scarcer in years past.
This big fellow could scare off just about everything else on the road when it was new back in 1994. The SL74 was a Renntech package that took the already potent Mercedes 6 liter V-12 and pushed it out to 7.4 liters. With about 600 horsepower and 600 lb. ft. of torque after the conversion all coming out of a lagless normally aspirated engine one could easily spin the z rated tires down to the rims.
It isn’t clear if this car was converted by Renntech just after the purchase or if the conversion took place later in the car’s life. With only 15,000 miles it doesn’t really matter.

Giant brakes (seriously look inside the wheels at those things), exhaust, limited slip diff, upgraded transmission all are necessary additions. The sort of things you would associate with a handbuilt rocketship. What sets this one apart, ironically, is at first glance it is so subdued. You could easily mistake this for just another R129 series Benz. The wheels are nothing too exciting, though closer inspection reveals them to be light magnesium wheels. Nothing seems too fancy about the bodykit, some flares and vents, not even a badge on the back, then you realize it is all carbon fiber, hood, fenders, rockers. This saves, according to the seller 600 lbs in weight.
A peak inside and you can see that this SL is not for prowling a Florida retirement community, though grandpa would probably like the feel of those Recaro ortho sport seats, grandma likely would not want to fumble with the four point race harness.…
Ben’s Q-Ship post the other day got me thinking about these biggest of Benz coupes. There’s something to be said about the pure indulgence intrinsic in massive luxury coupes. Ben’s 65 puts the “rocket ship” in Q-ship, but the “pedestrian,” non-AMG’d CL600 was no slouch either. It only made 60% of the CL65’s power (367 vs. 612), but it was still a burly V12 able to excite while cruising in a massive, B-pillarless yacht of a coupe.

It’s a shame it’s not two years older, when the 600 gained twin turbos. But really, an engine that needs its torque electronically limited is an exercise in absurdity; the 600 and V12 badges will impress just as much when you’re cruising. It’s just over 100k miles, usually a nice amount but with a German V12, any miles are bad miles in terms of maintenance cost. But if a Benz CL is what you want, you’d have class and cash left over with a reduced price around $16k. Not bad to get into this lineage.
The W210 Mercedes E-Class represents one of the first times I started seeing M-B as capable of the bruce I knew so well from their Bavarian counterparts. The sport-edition E430 certainly looked the part with some slick 5 spokes and near-AMG body kit, but the real beast of the litter- subtly aggressive on the outside and packing tire-roasting torque on the inside- was the E55. Now, some may scoff at its 349hp, 5.4L V8, but realize that we live in the most golden age of horsepower wars. Though it even gave up some power to its contemporary M5, the tides were reversed when it came to torque, making this a true muscle car from the great Hammer tradition.

This one comes in clean silver, showing off the well-shaped hood and clean lines front to back. It has 133k miles and a less-than-descriptive listing so it could use a thorough pre-sale inspection, but it looks to be in good condition inside and out and is priced at a mere $10,000. For 10 grand, you’ve got your own German ape-in-a-business suit, ready to spin those AMG monoblocks and look classy doing it.
In an era of SUVs and minivans, the estate, or station wagon, is fast becoming a less favored mode of transport. One manufacturer has stayed true to this body style since 1978: Mercedes-Benz. This clean, low mileage W124 E320 wagon is my favorite of the breed and perhaps one of the best engineered, as well. Rarely do we see Mercedes-Benz wagons with such low mileage but here’s a chance to bid on a classic.
The seller states:
This is a really nice 1995 E320 wagon that has been in California all its life. It was bought new by an older lady in Los Angeles. She kept the car for just over 11 years and put only about 35,000 miles on it in that time. Her daughter acquired the car in 2007 and it has been in the Bakersfield area since then. This car was built in September of 1995; making it one of the last w224 cars to be built. This was also the year of any U.S. model Mercedes wagon until 1998. Unfortunately, 1998 was also the first year Mercedes began using the new V6 motor. So, 1995 was the last year Mercedes made a wagon with the better in-line 6-cylinder motor. Since a new body style was introduced for 1996, this was also the last of the over-engineered E-Class cars. Just like the 1993 190-Class, the 1999 S-Class, and the 2002 SL-class, this car was the last of its kind, and they truly don’t build them like they used to. By Mercedes’ own admission, they do not over-engineer these cars any more. This car is the last of the best.
This car has as much cargo space as a mid-size SUV with the middle and rear seats folded. It has the third row seat which makes it a true 7 passenger vehicle.
The W116 is perhaps one of the most forgotten Mercedes-Benz S class generations, but even this staid sedan had a few interesting versions. We are all familiar with the beast that is the 6.9, but here is an interesting version with what looks to be a 4.5 V8 and a 4 speed manual. Also included are a few tasteful modifications.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Paul who found this beauty and wrote the post, like the seller and the original importer has been duped. This car is not as the seller states a 450SE, but likely a much more significant Euro market 350SE. It could be the importer called this a 450SE to help ease the importation. A 450SE with a manual was almost unheard of. This car shows its Euro heritage with the Euro bumpers and headlights and also has only had the speedometer converted, the other gauges in the instrument cluster and the climate controls remain the original Euro, German language ones. The VIN number indicates a 350SE. Without seeing the actual engine data plate it is easy to confuse the two models, particularly this one which seems to have an air cleaner like the 4.5, earlier 3.5 engines had a smaller, circular, air cleaner with the intake on the passenger side. The 3.5 liter V8 was marked as a M116 engine in the W116 chassis. The 4.5 liter V8 was marked as the M117 engine in the W116 chassis. Many consider the smaller 3.5 V8 to be the better engine. It was a marvelous piece, very high revving and nimble. Couple that engine with a manual transmission and the short bodied 116 chassis car and this must be quite a fun ride. I would get rid of that particular set of aftermarket rims. Replacing the stock 14″ items with 16″ or bigger is a good idea, but there are much nicer looking rims for classic Mercs.…
Before AMG became fully integrated into the Mercedes-Benz family, along came the W124 chassis 500E/E500. While relatively tame looking, the trained eye will notice the larger 16″ alloy wheels and flared fenders. That’s just a prelude to the collaboration between Porsche and Mercedes that yielded perhaps one of the best sport sedans ever.

This is a 1994 Mercedes 500E with 45296 original miles. This car is in excellent condition inside and out. Car comes with the original manuals and service booklet with dealer stamps, and original window sticker (see photo). This is a rare and interesting car, a joint venture between Mercedes and Porsche, Porsche did the suspension work, has yielded one of the greatest Mercedes’ of all time.
My father owned a 1992 400E and while he owned it, I happened to drive a 1992 500E that was for sale. The difference was astounding. To say this car had God’s own suspension would be an understatement. I’m not sure how Porsche tuned it to be comfortable yet so controlled simultaneously.
As far as Mercedes-Benz sedans go, their resale values tend to lag behind coupes and convertibles. The asking price of $29,000 is certainly strong, but right in line with the condition and mileage. Plus, this is the desirable facelift version which was the last year the 500E/E500 was sold in the US. While I’ve seen some ultra low mileage examples listed in the $30k and up range, $29 large is about all you’d want to spend, in my opinion, for one of Mercedes’/Porsche’s finest.
The W123 is quite possibly the most ubiquitous Mercedes-Benz of all time. Revered for it’s build quality and rock solid reliability, both clean and clapped out examples are still a regular site on roads all over the world to this day. Slightly more rare than its sedan counterpart, the coupe, or CD/CE brought the classic MB pillarless coupe style to the workhorse chassis. This particular example, a later turbodiesel variant, has seen just over 90,000 miles. One could consider this slightly broken in.

This is a rare 1983 Mercedes 300CD Turbo coupe. It runs and drives awesome. This is a rust free car. It has 91,371 miles on it. The car is in very nice shape. The A/C blows cold. This car will go a million miles.
After scanning other ads online and pricing guides, it seems as if the value of W123 CDs are topping out around $10,000. If this car had about 50,000 less miles on it, it might be worth it, but unless this car has impeccable service history, it’s a bit overpriced. Nevertheless, a fine example of the W123 coupe in a pleasant color combination.
Besides the original 300SL gullwing and roadster, the Pagoda SLs that succeeded them have always commanded top dollar. The 250SL represents the mid point in the evolution of the W113, which ran from 1963 through 1971. While this generation represented a shift towards more of a boulevard cruiser, you could still order your SL with a manual transmission. This particular example has the rare ZF 5-speed. Given that only 1,791 examples of the 250SL made it to the US, this is a rare piece indeed.
Yes it is a factory 5 speed ZF manual transmission, one of only 882 Pagodas with the special Mercedes ZF 5 spd built only for the SL models. And it is pristine! It is stunning and beautiful and runs like a Swiss clock. I can go into any detail you like as far as the condition but it is easier to assume it is exactly how the pictures depict it to be without any rust at all.
Chrome, paint, wood, interior, original hubcaps and beauty rims, mechanical condition all is in excellent condition. It is restored where it needed to be and has original carpet and seats and dash (still in excellent condition). It is a low mileage car with a clear CA title. The dash was never taken apart or repainted. New tires. Soft top is brand new too (didn’t have help removing hard top but all is perfect and of the highest quality correct German top).
By the way all the chrome is original except the back bumpers have been rechromed. The tail lights, grill, door trim and interior chrome trim is all original excellent condition, as new. It has been unbelievably well taken care of. I have a new trunk mat but wanted to show original mat.
You know I’m not a fan of the low mile garage queens that don’t ever get used for fear of wrecking their investment value. That is what we have here though.
How you could possibly have a genuine Mercedes Evo II parked in your garage and not ever drive it is just beyond me.
I’m a bit skeptical of this add, the pictures aren’t great and neither is the info in the advertisement. With a weak ad like this the seller is likely to attract tire kickers. What we can gather from the ad is that apparently this seller has this #422 of 502 ever built Benz tucked away in Swansea UK, where it has been parked since it was new. It has never been registered for road use. The seller mentions that as the second owner he only recently had the pre-delivery inspection completed when he had some of the belts and fluids replaced.
The Evo-II is one of the gems of the Mercedes fan. That incredibly rare, unobtainable pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, that everyone dreamed about. At a cost new in 1990 of $80,000 I guess the $150,000 current ask price shows the car has appreciated. The AMG and Cosworth worked over 2.5 liter 4 cylinder 16 valve engine is good for 232 horsepower. The car came with an amazing body kit with air dams, fender flares, and an outrageous rear wing that most will never believe is factory and that boy racer types probably think is great. The car also comes with the now iconic and oft reproduced 17″ Evo-II rims.
This is an amazing car with world beater race heritage, taking it to BMW in the DTM series. You rarely see a genuine one of these on the market. It is the type of historic car you would expect someone like Jay Leno to purchase for their collection.…
