Speaking of downright ridiculous, a super rare 1997  Porsche Ruf CTR2 Sport has hit the market.  This is one of 17 cars built back in 1997 that boasts 580 hp and 0-60 times under four seconds.  That is world class performance from an all-wheel drive car that is tame enough to driven anywhere.

It is tough to ascertain a relative price point for a car this rare.  But, compare the CTR to other super cars from Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Aston Martin and the $190k price tag seems very reasonable.  That is as long as I am not writing the check.

“This is a very rare 1986 Ruf BTR conversion.  Only 100 BTR’s were made.  Car is a special color to sample blue metallic with navy blue interior.

Car is in near concourse condition.  This is a true survivor car.  No paint work since body mods were done during slant-nose conversion (very common among Ruf cars).. 

There is a small door ding on the passenger door, and a rock chip on front windshield (see pictures).  Other then that, car has no issues and runs great.  All service up to date.  New tires, plugs and belts.  Does not leak any oil.

Local PPI’s welcome (must be done prior to bidding).”

Sure, the slant nose is not factory and this is not a RUF factory car but I could live with both of those things.  The color to sample and the overall condition of this car more than make up for the non-factory upgrades.  A no reserve auction is a great way to evaluate a car’s value and it looks like we will see what the market is for a car such as this.  Factory RUF cars of this vintage can fetch over $50k, my guess is this one will settle in somewhere between $35k-$40k.  Regardless of the final price you have to admire the beauty of this car!

This may be as close to an investment level Porsche as you can find in this marketplace.  The Ruf appears to be in excellent condition with only some interior refreshing needed, particularly the front seats.  At close to 25 years of age that is understandable.  Other than that this car seems to be turn key and ready to roll.

Being that this is my first Porsche post, I wanted to make sure that it hit all of my requirements. Air-cooled – check, turbo – check, coupe – check, go-fast mods – yes please, oh and it’s in my state as well?  Perfect.

What we have is a 1979 Porsche 930. As many of you may know the “930” denotes a 911 with a turbocharged engine .  This boosted flat-six was rebuilt less than 6,000 miles ago by PCA tech out of Exotic in Plaistow NH who “specializes in race car engines”.

The seller says he is the second owner and that he has all service, shipping, and original order documentation, which is nice. Car is up at $53,000 reserve not met.

Ok, so calling a BTR custom is kind of redundant since most RUF cars are done to some sort of owner specs. This one however has some additional modifications that set it apart. First off this particular car was featured in Car and Driver magazine in May 1997. It also has some unique options from the factory, sunroof and rear seat delete. Post RUF conversion the owner added some interior treatments and Porsche Bi-Xenon headlights. The is being sold by RUF Auto Centre in Dallas, the ask is $89,900. They say they just finished a complete engine rebuild on the car.

Yes, this is a 1985 model and that means it was produced for the European market and imported here. In the case of the Cosworth 190E, this means that this car has higher horsepower (185hp vs 167hp), torque and compression ratio.

This is a really nice example of a very desirable and collectible car. This is not a show car, but it certainly is in much better than average condition and has a relatively low 75,000 miles on it. It is probably too nice to take racing — even though it is a race car — but could make a great base for a project street car. Or do like me and just drive it! I have driven a lot of Mercedes in my life and this is the only one that really feels like a sports car. It’s nimble handling, high revving Cosworth engine and great exhaust note make this car a blast to drive. Please come buy it before I get into trouble!

I like the opening bid of $8000 and the honesty of this listing. While not quite as nice as this example posted a while back, the combination of European specification, recent respray, and very good miles, make me think this is a great example for an enthusiast. You are looking at a very fine investment opportunity for any Porsche enthusiast – and one fun sports car that craves some hard driving.

Not much needs to be said here. An opportunity like this doesn’t come along very often, and it’s appears to be titled! The real deal, not a conversion, and has only 8k miles. I’ve always said that I think the 993 series was the last of the real Porsche 911′s and this one is the ultimate tuner car of it’s generation. Sure it’s a Powerball fantasy for most of us, but if my ticket hits, this guy’s phone is going to blow up the next day! i just did my engine i upgraded to a ruf 3.4 twin plug on my 1988 930 turbo i was running the stock 3.3 but i had some bolt on power such as a k 29 turbo and a kokelin inter cooler and b&b exhaust with headers i love my upgrade but as you know the weekest link is the stock 4 spd transmission my engine wants more i am very serious on a ruf 6 spd transmission i can not locate one please help me porsches forever its in our blood thank you
