Found: One Owner 1970 Porsche Sportomatic 911T
June 9, 2010 by Aaron
Porsches fitted with sportomatic automatic transmissions have had a complex relationship with the Porsche community over the years. At a time these cars were shunned, seen as abominations that were inferior with the omission of that extra pedal. As a good portion of that community has aged, present company included, those same Sportomatic cars have seen a spike in popularity. All of a sudden the thought of not shifting a 911 does not see like such a tragic thing.
What we have here is a one owner 1970 911T that was owned by a radiologist in Kentucky. The car comes with all the books and records one would come to expect from a 40 year old one owner car.
1970 Porsche Sportomatic 911T:
From the seller’s post -
“ Documented one owner car, a radiologist in KY, with 57,xxx original miles. All books, factory maintenance record and 5 factory keys with original German key card. Conda green over black leatherette. Always garaged. Interior is very clean and all original. Exterior is straight and to be perfect needs rockers, a front pan, and paint. Inner fenders, floors, shock mounts, and torsion bar supports are all excellent. Original glass all around. Engine and carbs have been rebuilt by a Porsche specialist and have just 242 miles on. Also, brakes, lines, fuel tank, oil tank, and more are new. I’ve had 13 older 911′s and this one rings the most true. More pics and details available. $17,000 / BO.”
While the car has great ownership history and has a great deal of recent work it does need paint and fairly significant rust repair. At $17k this car is not reasonably priced, you could get a straight example with good paint and no rust in the $17-18k range. However, the owner has lowered his price to $13.5k which makes this a good buy.
If someone could do some of this work themselves this could be a good investment. Any Porsche lovers with a body shop out there, if so this could be the car for you.
~Aaron.
