Low Mile 2007 Cayman S under warranty
May 6, 2010 by Ben
I was pretty excited about the Cayman S when Porsche first unveiled it back in 2005. A mid-engine, Boxster derived coupe with a hopped-up version of the Boxster’s 3.2. Displacement was increased to 3.4 liters and the stock cylinder heads were swapped out for the VarioCam system found in the 997. On paper, this equated to 320hp and performance that was sneaking up on Porsche’s flagship model the 911.
Having driven a Cayman S myself, I can say that these are all around solid cars and quite a bit of fun. Fast, lightweight, great handling and more importantly recently affordable, the Cayman S has fallen enough in price that people are starting to get some good deals on one of Stuttgart’s finest
In my opinion, black is the best color for the Cayman but this little gator looks hot in Guards Red. With only 19K miles, the “big 20,000 miles service” complete and 2 more years on the Porsche factory warranty you’d be able to walk away feeling pretty safe about your purchase. The seller has recently chopped $4,000 off his $39K price tag, making it a reasonable $35,000.

One of the cars I would most like to try.

Neat cars but your facts are a bit off. The original Cayman S like this one has a 3.2 motor and makes 295 bhp at the crank. The Cayman S which was updated in 2009 has the 3.4 DFI motor.
YOu can buy these cars all day long in the mid 30′s. In 2008 they made a Cayman S Sport in Orange with black or Viper Green with BLack, a couple more BHP and a nasty sounding tuned exhaust and loads of alcantera inside… those a nice cars but still pricey.
TOdays base cayman has almost as much Bhp as the 2006-8 S … These are really fun cars and thats coming from a guy who has owned 20 plus 911′s

Thanks for the corrections Jim. You know the Cayman is good when a 911 enthusiast like Jim is even praising it’s graces.
