Here is the Pacific Northwest there is a super rare 1985 Doka for sale. The Doka was used primarily as a military transport vehicle in Germany and came with a variety of power plant and drive train options. Since the Doka was not sold domestically any example would have been imported and federalized at some point. This is not a complicated process as the Doka is similar mechanically to the VW Vanagon making any neccessary changes fairly straightforward. This Doka has been restored at some point, which is a selling point as many still look like the military transport vehicle they once were.
From the seller’s ad –
“ENGINE UPGRADE 2.1, SMOOTH SHIFTING AUTO TRANS, POWER STEERING, LOVES TO CRUISE @70MPH TOUCHING 19 MPG, PORSCHE WHEELS 8” FRONT, 10″ REAR ALLOWING FOR EASY HANDLING OF CURVY ROADS. WILL BE IN WOODBURN FOR VW SHOW JUNE 5TH AND VANCOUVER, WA JUNE 6TH FOR VW SHOW.”
A very neat car in great condition, the 2.1 is an upgrade over a 1.9l or <gasp> the 1.6 diesel. I am also glad to see it retain a German drive train as many Doka’s have been given Subaru transplants once their factory engines went south. If I had an ideal Doka it would have a Syncro 4×4 tranny, but as rare as they are beggars can’t be choosers. At $14.5k this is a solid value as I have seen some pretty rough Doka’s go for more. If anyone happens to attend either of the VW shows above report back to the group if you happen to see this Doka on display.
