I couldn’t find another 911SC that I really felt like delving into much further, but hop forward a couple years I found pretty much the next best thing! An absolutely beautiful Iris Blue Metallic 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa, located in California, with just 43,565 miles on it. Iris Blue can be a stunning color when it has been well cared for and is looking good. That’s exactly what we have here. It might not blow you away the way a pastel long-hood 911 might. It’s just really pretty.

If everything the ad states above can be verified, then this Carrera looks to be an excellent candidate for those in search of an original classic 911. It’s one owner and fully documented since purchase including all of its books. It’s completely unrestored with original interior, paint, engine and transmission. Given how good everything looks we’ll definitely want to verify the originality of the paint. The seating shows minor wear and doesn’t look of the sort that has been reupholstered so there’s perhaps less concern there. Overall the initial impression from this Carrera is quite positive.
There are a couple flaws noted. The A/C is said to need a recharge and there’s some oil seeping at the valve cover. I’d guess the oil seepage would be of greatest concern to most and hopefully a PPI can let us know the extent of any issues. The engine is over 30 years old and hasn’t been rebuilt so it’s possible there could be something lurking, but with this mileage there shouldn’t be anything too serious so long as proper maintenance has been followed. But that’s what a PPI is for. Barring some significant issue I really like this Carrera and while the price certainly is on the higher end for an ’85 Targa, given its documentation and originality it doesn’t seem too unreasonable. Even among these Carreras we don’t see very many single-owner, fully-original, examples so this one is a rare thing.
