1987 BMW 325is

s-l1600
Here’s a sweet little 325is that is deceptively unique. With no trunk badges, a first glance at the side skirts may lead you to believe it’s a 325ix, but a closer look reveals an E30 that has been given quite a bit of attention. Under the 9 year-old repaint, the side skirts are actually BBS, and the front and rear M-Tech I valences have been integrated into chrome Euro bumpers. It’s also lacking the M-tech wheel arches, but I don’t miss them. Inside, E30 M3 seats in Natur are a nice touch (though I’ve never liked the bulbous M-Tech II steering wheel), and the mechanicals seem to have been thoroughly maintained and upgraded with nice bits like a Conforti chip and Dinan Stage 2 suspension. With no reserve, it’s time to let the eBay junkyard dogs feast.

1987 Porsche 911 Clubsport

It’s a rare day when I’ll talk about a Porsche 911 on this forum, as my fellow contributor Rob has spent a lifetime devoted to this air-cooled sportscar. When we hang out together, one question has arisen from time to time: “if you had to have one 911, which one would it be?” That’s a tough one, considering we have a model portfolio of 50 years to choose from. But one 911 stands out as the holy grail for me: the 3.2 Clubsport. To me, this is what the 911 is all about. Light weight, no frills and a pure driving experience. This 1987 911 Clubsport for sale in Germany was sold originally in Sweden and found its way back home in 2009. Looking for something a bit more unique in the 3.2 realm? Read further…

1987 Audi 4000CS quattro

I’ve taken a fair amount of heat over the past few weeks for posting front drive B2 models. But, in fairness, there was reasoning behind it; several of the examples were far above average, if not the best examples for sale anywhere today, and the fact of the matter is that the front drive Audi B2s are really fun to drive. “Quattro” becomes this obsession that overshadows the rest of the model run to the point that even Audi fans dismiss the two wheel drive variants as worthless. However, the much larger issue is finding good examples of 1980s quattros for sale. They do pop up from time to time, but largely what comes to market is used – and used hard. However, I came across one that appears to be in above average shape, so let’s take a look at it:

1987 Porsche 944 Turbo

We’ve featured our fair share of Porsche 928s over the past few days, so it’s time to turn our attention back to that other favorite front-engined transaxle, the 944. This 944 Turbo for sale in Ohio has seen just 55,000 miles, painted in classic Guards Red with those famous phone dial alloy wheels. With the dawn of a new turbocharged four-cylinder Porsche upon us in the form of the 718 Boxster, the time is ripe to analyze another four cylinder Porsche from 30 years ago.

1987 Porsche 928S4

We all know that not many pristine Porsche 928’s exist in today’s world, which really is a shame. As a victim of a reputation for being high maintenance, many 928’s have fallen into the hands of careless owners who often neglect big ticket maintenance items. The few pristine that do remain attract significantly higher values in the marketplace than their neglected counterparts, and for good reason. There’s a saying in the 928 world “it’s $10K away from being a $5K car.” Nobody wants to be the guy with the $5K car that cost him $10K, and the way to avoid that problem with a 928 is to invest in a good one from the beginning.

This car appears to be a very well maintained 1987 928 S4 fitted with the very desirable 5-speed manual transmission. Owned by a well-known enthusiast in the 928 world, this car is about as clean as they come. Additionally, it sports the highly desirable black-on-black color combo and has less than 40,000 miles. Combining the condition, manual transmission, color combo, low mileage, and the well-known ownership history equates to a very desirable 928 that should fetch a significant premium over examples lacking any of these variables.
