1989 Porsche 930 Cabriolet

This is a first: I have never seen this color on any Porsche let alone a 911. Here we have an Apricot Beige 1989 Porsche 930 Cabriolet, located in Cleveland, with Mahogany leather interior and just 21,575 miles on it. Apricot Beige was only offered for two years and this is the only year it would have been available on the 930. So we have a final-year 930, meaning it has the 5-speed transmission rather than the 4-speed the 930 had borne for its entire existence, and a rare exterior color only available during that final year. While the color isn’t likely to garner the widest appeal since its fairly obscure and doesn’t fit into most people’s typical preferences, the combination of these details should draw attention. I think that this is a Cabriolet actually helps this color as the contrast with the interior stands out more and on a Coupe I don’t know if it would look quite as good. It certainly would fit the personality of the 930 even less so than it does here.

1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

Wednesday I featured a pretty nice 911SC and now we’ll take a step forward to its successor the 3.2 Carrera. And I’ll say from the start that I already like this Carrera better than that SC. What a difference a day makes. Given that this is an early Carrera there aren’t many significant differences between this and the 911SC. The engine, obviously, is the most significant change, but aesthetically the differences are minor and this still sports the 915 5-speed transmission that served the 911 so well for so long. I like this color a little better than Guards Red, I like the interior contrast better, and overall it just strikes me as being in better condition. I’m not sure I can pinpoint why, it’s really just the overall sense of everything we see. So here we have a Garnet Red Metallic 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, located in Michigan, with Champagne leather interior and 57,000 miles on it.

1982 Porsche 911SC

I do frequently find myself returning to the 911SC. Even those we might consider fairly basic examples tend to attract my notice more so than the other models. On the other hand, quite a few of those other models attract greater notice from me when I happen to come across one in a peculiar color or a special edition. But the SC attracts me even when there isn’t much more to be said than I think it looks like a good car in nice shape. I think that’s what we have here with this Guards Red 1982 911SC Targa located in Nashville. It’s bright red so I cannot properly say it isn’t flashy, but we come across Guards Red pretty often with any 911 from the ’80s so it isn’t a color that really makes us take notice. But that red exterior looks good and contrasts nicely with this Tan interior. The 911SC has remained a popular option among many 911 fans for its combination of reliability, classic looks, and pretty reasonable performance. They won’t necessarily blow you away, but that doesn’t mean they can’t provide a long life of enjoyable motoring.

1987 Porsche 930 Slantnose Coupe – REVISIT

s-l1600

The 1987 Porsche 930 Slantnose Coupe we featured back in January 2015 has come back up for sale. Nothing much appears to have changed over that year and a half as it’s still being offered by the same seller, has a similar – though slightly higher – price tag, and only 200 extra miles on the clock. The market went through a bit of a roller-coaster since the last time this 930 was featured and I will be interested to see if it now sells.

1977 Porsche 911S Coupe

This one might be a little too close to my own preferences with regard to color, but I hope others find this 911 as great looking as I do. Here we have a Minerva Blue Metallic 1977 Porsche 911S Coupe, located in New York, with a Cork interior and 46,394 miles on it. This combines two of my favorites. Minerva Blue is a wonderful shade of blue as we’ve seen before and Cork is easily my favorite among the various tan interior options Porsche has made available. Combined they work fantastically well together. Outside of those colors things get a little more tricky. A ’77 911 finds few favorites and those that do look for these models typically have their eye on their lower values. The price here extends us outside of that sort of search. Still it’s a beautiful looking example that sits with pretty low miles.
