Super Low Miles BMW e30 M3 For Sale

BringATrailer spotted this 4k mile e30 M3 earlier this summer and I blogged it as well on my old blog. It’s an interesting discussion piece as it’s likely one of the nicest survivors in the world, and carries an absurd asking price of $55k.

I post it again here for those who haven’t seen it yet and because my memory was sparked when a thread on VWVortex showed up and a lengthy discussion ensued concerning this car.

What’s your take?

Update: This listing is pretty out of date. Consider one of these early e30 M3’s instead!

1991 BMW e30 325iT Wagon For Sale in Calgary

For a number of years, I’ve remarked to my wife that I wished the e30 wagon had made it to the U.S. It would be the perfect dog car for us! Well here’s one for sale on eBayMotors from Calgary, and the seller notes he can assist U.S. buyers with a title…

1991 BMW 325iT Wagon on eBayMotors:

quote from seller’s eBayMotors listing:

Equipped with A/C, Power Windows & Locks, Power Sun Roof, 4 Speed Automatic Transmission, ABS. etc. Fun to drive with great utility. When was the last time you saw another?

This car has had some high quality paint work but has no accident history. At that time it seems they painted the body side mouldings, the bumper strips, rear spoiler, front air dam, side view mirrors and the side skirting. Combined with the 15” ABT alloy wheels, I think the car has a great stance and looks longer and lower than it actually is..

Mechanical Inspections welcomed, all repair orders are available for viewing. Bid with confidence, I am Mike Bennett a Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council Licensee.

Fly in and drive home. Or I can assist with shipping at a reduced rate at your expense.

For US purchasers, I can assist you in obtaining a US title. Please call on 403.815.1173 or email me for details.

I have some concerns about importing this car, but really my bigger concern is that the seller thinks it might be worth $9k with the buy-it-now listed. I know it’s rare in these parts, but that’s silly!

BMW e36 M3 in Alpine White Wallpapers

I took most of the weekend off from blogging (and everything else technology in nature) to enjoy the 75 degree weather we got this weekend in the Willamette Valley. I apologize for the lack of posting and I offer these wallpapers in return. They were created from an old image I took of my previously owned Alpine White 1995 BMW e36 M3.

1989 BMW e30 M3 For Sale with 71k miles

Alpine White is one of the best M colors in my opinion, and of course this holds especially true on e30 M3’s. Here is a 1989 BMW M3 with 71k miles for sale on eBayMotors:

quote from seller’s eBaymotors listing:

EVO III splitter below the EVO II spoiler.

EVO rear flap spoiler.

EVO hood gaskets were installed front and back. A brand new extra set of EVO gaskets included.
The M3 has front and rear strut bars and Sport Springs
Brand new crossed drilled rotors, brake lines and differential cover installed…..all by South Bay Independent ( the leading West Coast M3 repair shop) We did not stop there the SBI custom short shifter was installed and just recently EVO red seatbelts and VDO gauges for Oil Pressure and Volts were added where the ashtray was formally.
From Turner Motorsport came OEM EVO front and rear wings while getting painted I had the front bumper re-painted and a new windshield installed ( no rust anywhere on this car).
The badges done in the mono scheme to stay in the Alpine/Grey/Black color .
The interior is 9/10. Leather is in EXCELLENT condition (just fantastic and rare for the tan interior cars). The back seats are perfect!!!…the fronts are in fantastic condition. The Steering wheel is a Momo Driver and a Hamman shifter and Momo boot. It also has the E30 arm rest.
A removable subwoofer resides in the back but factory speakers and amp are in place. A new Alpine cd player is installed and the factory OEM radio is included.
17″ Ronals that look great and the tires only have about 1000 miles on them.
ECU from Turner Motorsports.
E36 tension modification already completed.
EVO/European doorsills that bear the M3 logo…quite pricey.

Mechanically, the car is incredible. All maintainence and service history have been impeccably kept.

1972 BMW 2002tii For Sale in the Pacific Northwest: Project Car or Driver?

Here’s an interesting listing on Portland Craigslist for a 1972 BMW 2002tii in Sahara Beige:

quote from seller’s Craigslist ad:

Sahara 1972 2002 tii (the vin is correct for a 1972 tii). this is a tii that you will enjoy driving and not worry about parking downtown or in parking lots.

saddly, the body shows old body work and the many seasons in the nw weather. ive tried to take blantant photos of the numerous imperfections in the body. i do not believe any structural integrity is compromised in the floor of the car and the jack points. most of the rust seems to be in small patches around the car including the spare tire well and about a 2in strip on the left shock tower. a plus on the body is the original tii nose that does not have the passenger side snorkel.

the interior shows its age. the carpets and rear seat look great but the driver and passenger seat show years of use. the dash is cracked and the clock does not work. sunroof operates properly. all instuments work except the odometer, and the temp gauge reads high but that seems to be due to grounding issues because it is jumpy depending on the electrical load and engine load.

i have owned the car for over 5 years, driven it alot, and have had very few problems, only needing to rebuild the injection pump. the odometer has not worked for the entire time i have owned it so i do not know the milage.
it is a blast to drive and certainly a good candidate to restore to perfection if so desired.
check out the pics

So as I suggest in the title, how would you treat this car? Address the rust and mask the paint to make an immediately approachable and cool driver, or would you take this one to the back shed for immediate tear down and restoration?…

1995 BMW 540i M-sport Dinan V8 6-speed blk/blk For Sale

A true e34 540i M Sport is a rare beast, and here’s one for sale in San Francisco for $15k on Craigslist:

quote from seller’s Craigslist posting:

This is a real 540i M-Sport. One of 200 made, last of the E34 body cars. Making this one even more rare, it has a manual transmission and all available options on top of the $7600 M-sport option. (ASC+T traction control, heated seats…) BMW went to the M5 parts bin with these M-Sport cars and put all of the M5 parts on it except for the Engine/Transmission, instead it recieved a 4.0 V8 mated to a 6-speed manual.

I think these are fantastic cars. But being in a used sportscar slump with the economy in the toilet, one has to wonder if the $15k asking of this car is a bit optimistic. After all, an e34 M5 of the same vintage, mileage, and condition trades hands in the same neighborhood. Sure the S38 will cost more in the long run, but how much more?

1976 BMW 2002: Beautiful Resto-Modified Example For Sale

Isn’t that what the Barret-Jackson folks would call it, a resto-mod? A very well done restoration with a custom touch to make this one a one of a kind, while not straying far from the original BMW 2002 formula.

1975 BMW 2002 Custom 2002 on Roadfly:

quote from seller’s Roadfly listing:

1976 BMW 2002 Complete restoration 1996, three coats paint, five coats clear, Epoxy under carriage, Kamei front spoiler, blacked out trim. Custom interior featuring; Koenig two-tone seats, 4-point harness, rear seats and all panels to match. New carpet and head liner. Racing suspension; Ireland engineering coil over suspension, 400# springs front, 350# rear, anti sway bar set 22/19 rears adjustable, Wildwood calipers with slotted rotors, 250mm rear brake kit, tii master cylinder, front to back braided stainless steel brake lines, and biased control. Engine built by Korman Autoworks started as stage 2 S-10, upgraded with 304 cam, dual 45 Weber’s, offset cam gear, titanium valve spring retainers, steel alloy connecting rods, triple row radiator, aluminum flywheel, Jacobs electronic ignition, Braided stainless gas lines, rear battery mount, Stahl header, Ansa Exhaust, Aluminum strut bar, short shift kit, HRE Basket weave custom wheels, Yokohama AVS ES 100 155/50R15. , 2nd place BMWCCA Concours 1996, 1997, Peoples choice 1999. Quit after 1999, to difficult to enjoy driving and show, would rather drive. To see additional pictures go to;

The beautiful paint choice with ‘shadow line’ trim treatment, spotless interior, period correct looking HRE wheels, and nicely warmed over Korman built motor make this car a standout. But with a $25k price tag, it stands amongst the most expensive company in used BMW 2002’s like this Turbo on BringATrailer. Like most cars that I post like this, I often wonder how the owner can part with it considering the effort and money invested.…

1985 BMW e24 M635CSi For Sale: aka RARE and Affordable!

There are lots of BMW e24 635CSi’s available in North America. However this example is European specification, which is rare to begin with, but the M model was exclusive to Europe until introduced as the M6 in North America in 1987. The only significant differences between the M635CSi and the M6 are the bigger (and uglier) bumpers and emissions controls. Otherwise, this 85 M635csi should be thought of an M6 with the right body work and easier breathing intake and exhaust. Long story short, a bargain with such low miles and an asking of $18k!

1985 BMW M635CSi For Sale on Roadfly

quote from seller after I emailed and inquired about pictures and listing the car on this site:

I am second owner, CA car has 81,500 miles, 5 speed manual trans, pearl leather interior in excellent condition, including dash and speaker pods on rear deck- no cracks. Original paint, diamond black. All weather seals in very good condition, no leaks. Original crosshatch rubber floor mats. Original carpeting in excellent like new condition and all very clean.

What a fantastic car! If you’re interested and would like to inquire further, please click on his ad on Roadfly.

1987 BMW 325IC b+b For Sale, as in Buchmann of Germany!

I had no idea b+b did anything other wheels and steering wheels. Here is a complete car modified by the tuner! Unfortunately this auction ended before I could post it, but considering I’ll never likely see one again, I’m going to post anyway.

1987 BMW 325ic on eBaymotors, modified by b+b Buchmann:

quote from seller’s eBay listing:

This is one of a kind! 1987 325IC BB with 34,900 original miles. This car was imported to New York in Dec. 1986. B+B Auto Exclusive Service in Frankfurt Germany. Here is more info on B+B . I am the second owner of this car. This car has been Garage kept the whole time. I purchased this car about a month ago. I have changed the timing belt, adjusted the valves, changed the valve bolts. valve cover gasket, manifold gaskets, break fluid flush, transmission flush, differential flush. The car came with a 3.64 open differential, I have changed it to a 4.10 lsd. The original differential is included with the car. This car is in like new condition, the A/C works. Sunroof is in perfect condition. There are no leaks of any kind underneath this car. Engine runs super smooth. This car has a performance CAM that came original with this car. Also sport suspension. Momo steering wheel. The car has front fog lights and rear fog lights, there are 2 buttons for fog lights.

$12,500 for a 325ic with only 34k miles is of course high. But the rarity of the parts on this car probably easily make up for the difference. And it’s a euro-spec car so it has the nice bumpers and probably an easier breathing motor. For the e30 uber enthusiast, this car stands out big time!

Here is some background info on b+b at wikicars.

1991 BMW e30 M3 For Sale: Alpine White Driver with Tasteful Upgrades

Here’s a nicely looked after BMW e30 M3 For Sale located in Bend, Oregon on eBaymotors. The Alpineweiss over Dove Gray leather looks really sharp. With a certified BMW mechanic as the previous owner, the 117k miles this car has appear to be well looked after and documented.

quote from seller’s eBay listing:

Purchased last Spring (2007) in near-stock condition from a local, certified BMW mechanic. 117,xxx miles (I’m driving it a few miles per week.) I own it outright, no loans nor liens. For those who seem to need to know: I’m well into my 40’s–not a kid racer.
No known accidents, no rust, and the VIN numbers all match (body to the fender panels).

– Details on the Wheels: Staggered widths front to back: the much coveted standalone versions of the E28/E34 BMW M5 and E30 BMW M3 Evo wheels. 16×7.5 front and 16×8.5 rear! They have the distinctive flat lip of the Evo M3 and M5 wheels—with the polished finish, they look perfect on this car.

Those wheels do look really perfect on the car, though I would’ve had them detailed before shooting the pics!

With the economy official swirling down the bowl, do you think we’ll see a dip in e30 M3 values? Post a comment!

I’m going to add a new tag for Pacific Northwest since there have several tasty cars locally posted here recently.
