File this one under “never knew it existed”. Probably for good reason too, since Mercedes-Benz only ever made 40 of them. This is a 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG 40th Anniversary Edition meant to commemorate the 40th anniversary of AMG. It was designed by the specialists of the AMG Performance Studio, which means it has absolutely no mechanical difference from the standard CL65 AMG. What it does have differently, is Alubeam Liquid Metal paint, AMG exclusive brown premium leather upholstery with diamond-pattern stitching, some 40th Anniversary badging, and a special “One out of 40” commemorative badge atop the central COMAND control stalk. Don’t we feel special now?
Some situations in life you do even when you know it is a bad idea and you will probably pay for it later. Okay, so maybe not too similar a set of examples, but you get the idea. What I’m trying to say is if a 2005 CL65 AMG with a RENNtech tune came up for sale that had enough power to spin the rear wheels at 60 mph, would you consider it? I think that answer depends on what your needs of a car is, do you have the budget, and are you currently under the influence of psychedelics? Still, my chest gets tight when I have to break a $100 bill, but this car is just so much for so little. How little?

What would you do with over 700 ft lb of torque? Well, if it were me, I’d make sure to unnerve the neighbors a bit as I started out my morning commute. Fortunately, for them, I work from home. Set apart by those gun metal gray alloy wheels, this 2006 CL65 AMG for sale in North Carolina has yet to cross the 40,000 mile mark and gives those power hungry enthusiasts among us a crack at a barely broken in über-coupe.
