2006 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

Bringing $35,000 to a Porsche 911 party isn’t going to buy you much unless you want a 996 generation. Anything earlier you might be able to swing a previously salvaged convertible and anything later doesn’t have the depreciation capability to get down to that price point. However, a base 997.1 with some miles will maybe fit in that budget if you look hard enough. Wouldn’t you know it, that is exactly what we have here with this 2006 up for sale in New Jersey. The best part? It isn’t even a Tiptronic car!

1993 Porsche 968 Coupe

The Porsche 968 just sort of occupies space in the world of Porsche. I don’t think anyone out there has them as their dream car, but they do make a little bit of a compelling case with their limited production, build quality, and good enough chassis dynamics and performance. Still, would you spend 911 money on one? Or even Cayman money? I’m sure if the price was low enough you could grab one, but I don’t think they bring enough to the table to say “Yes, I want to own a 968 for a long time.”

Today, we have a 1993 968 coupe up for sale in Rhode Island that has some good things going for it. Grand Prix White over Cashmere, 18″ Turbo-style wheels, and a timing belt service that isn’t immediately due. The best part? It isn’t very expensive.

1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

Some cars just have all the juicy details. Today’s car is one of those. This is one of many G-Body Porsche 911 Carreras, but I can probably guess it is the only one finished in the very rare Lagoon Green Metallic over a leather-to-sample interior … and over 276,000 miles on the odometer. Where to even begin?

2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

I’m not here to say “I told you so”, but when I told you three years ago to snag these while they were still cheap, I wasn’t kidding. Just $28,500 for this example back in February 2020 (right before the world fell apart) seems like highway robbery as that car is probably going to sell for at least $10,000 more today. Today’s example, a 2004 up for sale in New York, has the beautiful Carrara White with just over 44,000 miles. Still grab one while you can? Maybe not at this price.

1966 Porsche 912 Coupe

I think sometimes we need to be reminded that old cars are in fact, old. As much as we romanticize them, at the end of the day they are just a bunch of parts pieced together inside a metal shell. We like to think that the older construction is somehow different, and that is the case for some cars, but a lot of times we experience Paris syndrome when it actually comes to driving them. These old cars often feel slow, sloppy, and can be a pain to live with just for basic creature comforts. Hello, Porsche 912.

The 912 has all the exterior looks of the big brother 911 with its long-hood design before the days of impact bumpers and can surely lure us in with its timelessness. However, you are soon reminded that it is powered by a flat-four that pumped out a little over 100 horsepower when it was new. Inside? Well, it has a radio. Maybe the heat works, if you’re lucky.
