The C43 and C55 W202 Mercedes-Benzes were popular enthusiast hot rods, mainly because they matched massive V8 power in a small, relatively unassuming package. They also tend to overshadow the first collaboration between AMG after it became an in-house tuner, the C36. Packing a bored out, 3.6 straight six good for 276 horsepower. Here’s a clean example for sale up in Wisconsin with a relatively low 72,000 miles.

The seller states:

This is a very limited edition, ultra rare 1996 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG, 72k miles, silver metallic with black leather, brand new tires just installed, all serviced up and ready to enjoy or put it away and let it appreciate!

This car is impossible to find ESPECIALLY with such low mileage. It is right out of the owners personal collection and is very hard to find, especially with such low miles! Only a couple things to note; A/C blows warm, will need a charge and some of the wheels have some clear coat peeling. Everything else works as it should. Comes with 1 key and remote.

With only 5,200 C36 AMG models produced, you surely won’t see yourself coming and going in this car. Then again, for not much more money, you could have the later V8 version. But it won’t ever have the title of being the car that started the AMG craze that has been going strong for the last 15 years.

Every time I see the recent Mercedes-Benz commercial with Santa riding off in the red SL63, it gets me in the mood for a red Mercedes roadster. And here we have a tasty, red, first generation AMG SLK right in time for the holidays. This example has just under 35,000 miles on the clock. The SLK32 packed the 3.2 liter supercharged V6 which was shared with the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 coupe and roadster.

Not much of a description is given by the seller, but from the pictures and the mileage, it looks as if it was well cared for. Provided there are no issues and a clean service record, this could be a good, lightly used bargain for under $20,000.

Coincidentally I am following up the nice 300TD just posted with another Benz estate. This 128,000 mile Benz wagon has seen some attention. The car has had a repaint and had the interior wood redone to the tune of $1800. That is an interesting thing to see on a car of this age. It is more common on older more valuable Benzs to have the wood redone. Going that far suggests the previous owner took good care of the car. The seller says the engine was rebuilt, a potential buyer should find out what that means exactly.

The vehicle also has some aftermarket headlights, that appear to be projector lenses at least in part. The wheels look to be Carlsson or Carlsson reps.

The car has third row seats to fit seven, though there is a subwoofer box back there now.

$9000 takes it. Offer to give the seller a few lessons on how to write a better online advertisement (hint don’t use all CAPS) and see if you can get the price down for a better deal. Benz wagons owners are cliqueish so ownership comes with instant fanboys. With the seller in Brooklyn and the plates from Oregon its made at least one cross country journey, one should make sure those photos are current.

Along with many other folks around the world, I’ve always been fond of the W123 chassis Mercedes-Benz. Clean, unmolested T models, or the estate versions seem to be much harder to find these than their sedan and coupe counterparts, though. Here’s a clean 1981 300TD turbodiesel with 142,000 miles on it near Memphis. That kind of mileage would cause alarm for many other vehicles, but for the W123 Benz, it merely scratches the surface when talking about the break in period.

The seller states:

This vehicle is finished in the classic MB color #623H Light Ivory . The H denotes the use of Dr. Herbert paint at the factory (Mercedes at the time used Glasurit paint, and Dr. Herbert paint concurrently). The interior is a very durable MB Tex finished in Light Tan. This is a special vehicle that was purchased new here at Mercedes-Benz of Memphis. This wagon was special ordered by it’s original owner, Mr. Donald McClure of Memphis.

Mr. McClure was such an avid fan of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, that he decided to personally take delivery of the vehicle at the Mercedes-Benz factory August 10,th 1981 at Sindelfingen Germany. Mr. McClure ordered this vehicle through the local dealership via the European Delivery program. This is an officially imported MB and not a grey market car. Mr. McClure selected the options and paid for the vehicle stateside. He then flew to Germany, toured the factory, and watched the car being built on the assembly line. Upon completion, he was presented the keys to the wagon, and went on a European vacation with the car. At the conclusion of the vacation, he returned the car to the Mercedes-Benz factory, where it was then shipped back to Mercedes-Benz of Memphis, and delivered to Mr.

An oddity here. A 300SEL that has had the treatment normally reserved for the full on limousines like the 600. The car is a Euro model and features the 3.5 liter V8, a superb, often overlooked, compact V8. The car does not have the 3.5 badge on the trunk, which was an option, so you can surprise some folks when they hear a little V8 burble out of the pipe.

The landaulet is usually associated with a chauffeur driven vehicle, though this car shows no other signs of options one might expect to see on a Benz on this nature.

The seller doesn’t provide any information about the conversion or much else in the description.

The car has a 100,000 miles it looks clean, the wood inside looks to be in good shape, which is nice because that gets pricey to restore. No dash cracks. There is an interesting gauge under the dash to the left of the steering wheel that controls the air suspension.

The one thing this car needs, and I’ve nailed other vintage cars on this site for doing this, is a better radio. Get that ugly, out of place, tape deck out of there. What many people fail to realize is that the classic Becker radios offered performance far greater than many of the cheap aftermarket jobs you see. Put in a vintage Blaupunkt or Becker or a retro look new model. Who cares if it works in this case, as I suspect the interesting roof design creates a bit of wind noise.

The W203 C class Mercedes isn’t the most interesting of German cars out there, but this one has an interesting story. Mainly because it is my personal car. While I’ve only advertised it for sale in the Mercedes-Benz Club of America’s magazine, The Star, I thought it would be a good idea to put up an advertisement on GCFSB before posting to a wider audience. I am not in a rush to sell, but personal circumstances have forced me to speed up the process. It has been a great car, but alas, it’s time to move on.

More about the car:

Purchased new in July 2007 from Keenan Mercedes-Benz in Doylestown, PA. Built five weeks prior to the end of W203 C class sedan production (confirmed by Mercedes-Benz North America). Balance of extended warranty until July 2013 transfers to new owner. Car currently has 26,200 miles.

Features include:

-Granite Gray/Ash MB Tex
-2.5 liter V6, 201 hp, 7 speed automatic with manual shift mode
-Sunroof package: Glass sunroof, power rear sunshade, garage door opener, auto-dimming left side and inside rearview mirrors, rain sensing wipers
-Power driver’s seat/steering column with three position memory
-Dual zone climate control
-Heated Seats
-6 disc CD changer in dash

The wheels were swapped when car was delivered for a brand new set of 2006 C230/CLK sport wheels. In my opinion, the 2007 C230 sport rims weren’t as in line with the styling as were the ’06 wheels. The original floor mats have never been used and will be provided with the vehicle. I have opted to keep a set of rubber Hexomat floor mats inside, as they are durable and easy to clean: www.hexomatsfloormats.com.

This car has been regularly serviced at Keenan Mercedes. The only repair to arise was the replacement of the front brake rotors at 14,000 miles due to defective tempering of the metal in the rotors.

We see a lot of fairly new cars that just get crushed with depreciation. That leaves some great opportunities for secondhand buyers.

This 2003 S55 had an M.S.R.P. north of $100,000 and now can be had for $22,500. 75,000 miles on the car, which looks pretty clean. The interior looks great considering its light color.

With the addition of a Eurocharged 180mm pulley, Kleeman headers and tune added to the already potent supercharged engine, your probably looking at close to 550 horsepower and gobs of torque.

Sure you could buy yourself a nice brand new car with a warranty for this price, but it certainly won’t have the presence of this top of the heap German luxury sedan. If you don’t mind paying top dollar here is another chance for instant gratification for the holidays.

Several Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16s have been featured here on our site before, so the qualities of this pre AMG sport sedan from Stuttgart need not be poured over. Low mileage examples are getting harder to find these days, however, this clean and well documented example grabbed my attention late last week on eBay.

The seller states:

The 2.3-16 was sold in the US market for model years 1985-86 and a total of only 2,229 were produced for this market. The car presented here is the 229th “16 valve” brought into the US and was produced in October of 1985. The car was shipped to the US and on January 2nd, 1986 the car was sold to its first owner, a doctor in Yuma, Arizona. This owner kept the car for 10 years and covered 53,307 miles before selling it. The second owner, a geologist from San Jose, CA, drove the car for an additional 10 years and in July of 2006 I bought the car with 153,660 miles on it. Currently the car shows 171,469 miles. Below is all the factory information on this car including the option codes. This information was taken directly from the data card and all of the equipment, as well as the numbers on the car match.

Every morning on my way to work I am confronted by the ubiquitous Toyota Prius screwing around in the left lane and holding up traffic. Now, I’m all for more efficient vehicles, but driving a penalty box like this on a daily basis might lead me to mental instability. While this vintage S class isn’t faster than a Prius, it will certainly get you there in style and last a whole lot longer.

The seller states:

This is an exceptionally clean, well cared for, smoke-free Mercedes. Accordingly here is a list of the good and also things needing attention: All the glass is in great shape. The car idles, runs and drives out as I feel it should – strong oil pressure, strong battery and charging system, no overheating, no brake pull or alignment issues! The factory original color gold metallic paint is in great overall condition and still holds quite a shine. I find NO rust spots on the body or door panels. Absolutely superior chrome and exterior trim all around, too! The front fenders, doors, rear quarters and floor pans are all solid; in fact the entire undercarriage is in great condition for a 30 year-old car! The factory wheels are straight and true. They’re wrapped with 205/70R14 radials with at least 80% life remaining.

The upholstery is all-original with the pictures giving a very accurate view of its clean, solid, superb condition. Often, you’ll find worn springs and disintegrating cushion material on these cars. This is NOT the case here. Hop in and feel comfortable sitting on these firm seats for hours. About the only flaw is a worn spot on the driver’s backrest that doesn’t warrant much attention for now, you’ll see it in the pics. The heater and A/C system work, but could use a refrigerant recharge.

After 3 of these monster R129 Mercedes showed up this past summer, we got a tip for another one on eBay from Portland, Oregon. It’s a short list of cars that have over 7 liters of displacement, and pretty extreme for Renntech to punch out the normal 6.0 liter V12 in the SL an extra 1.4 liters. A couple things always seem come up with these cars: time/space-bending power in a dated chassis, and massive depreciation. I’ve always fantasized about having a Benz that could light up the rears on the highway, so maybe this is the most financially feasible way to achieve that goal.

The seller’s 2 cents:

This is an extremely rare Mercedes SL600. It was converted to a RENNtech in 1999, and has a 7.4 liter 575 HP engine with camshafts and ported and polished heads. It also carries a RENNtech resonator by pass, RENNtech rear muffler, oil cooler, CF air intake, transmission upgrade, ASR delete switch, larger front and rear sway bar, Alcon 14″ front brakes and AMG 18 inch Aero wheels all verified through RENNtech. The Customer spent $73,681.00 to do this RENNtech conversion. The car is in spectacular shape, with books and all four Keys.

In the same sleeper green as the one Evan found this summer, this one is extra sleepy with standard AMG monoblocks and completely shaved identifying badges. Nice to see another one that’s been driven, having covered 89k miles, but the flipside is that you’ve got a 90k-mile tuner V12. Right. Anyways, while it’s certainly not the best looking R129, that’s kind of the appeal here: scary power in as plain-jane an exterior as Mercedes can do. No bites at $20k yet, we’ll see if even that is too high for a car whose monster in the engine bay is only matched by its monster depreciation.…

This car is from down under in more ways then one. It hails from Australia, but there also is quite a lot of under world connections with this beast.

From the description it looks like this started life off as a proper hearse, but a new owner has gone all out with custom work to turn it into a head turner. Fancy mural work all over, neon lighting, big subwoofer, full size casket with skeleton, this thing has some fun possibilities.

With the under hood work being a fairly standard Mercedes 2.8 liter 6 cylinder maintenance to keep it running shouldn’t be too “scary,” despite having covered 128,000 miles.

The ask price is just under $13,000 U.S.

We try to avoid posting utter monstrosities and crimes against nature but sometimes one sneaks in. Perhaps it is my soft spot for Mercedes that slipped this one through.

The seller boldly proclaims “THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN UPGRADED” and they also claim, “WE HANDPICK ONLY THE FINEST VEHICLES” so I guess its all relative.

I’m not really sure what one would do with a car like this. It isn’t valuable enough to try and return to it’s former glory and the custom work has really limited the potential buyer pool.

The oddly placed aftermarket driving lights and the rainbow fleck paint aren’t what you normally would associate with a Benz, don’t forget the hood scoop(?!) either. The racing stripes shout class in case the gaudy steering wheel cover or Fast and Furious wing didn’t catch your eye.

I see this car parked in a high school parking lot in the near future.

With 123,000 miles the car has a no reserve ask price of $3,600.  Not a bad price, you could part the car out and make that much, but still I’m not sure this is going to see any bidders. The AMG rims are worth at least a quarter of that if they are genuine as the seller states.

Do any of you have a better suggestion as to where car like this will end up next?
Please don’t do this to your Mercedes.

I’m going to top Aaron’s earlier post of the 1983 GTI with 38k with this sweet low mile cupcake.

You sometimes think of Mercedes and you picture long term reliability and high mileage cars. So how about this gem of a vintage Mercedes sedan that has covered a mere 26,000 miles. Finding a garden variety 250 with such low miles is almost unheard of. These cars were typically used, racking up many trouble free miles. This beauty was spotted prowling the paddock over at Watkins Glen, New York. I’d like to know the story about previous ownership to see where the low mileage comes from. I noted that the car has historic plates on it so it is not likely the current owner’s daily driver. The owner also states it has not seen winters, a plus in central New York.

The cream paint looks fantastic, the interior almost as new. Not even a single of the notorious Mercedes Benz dash cracks. No pitted chrome either. This Benz comes with the column shifted automatic, not quite as desirable or as fun as the floor mounted auto or the manual, but this is a sedate sedan.

Nothing too flashy here, just a chance to have a charmer of a Benz transport you back into a simpler time of premium automotive travel. Perfect for say a New Haven area professor, tweed jacket with suede elbow patches not included.

The owner asks for $10,000, and says call if interested, 607-279-7688.

Not too much info to give on this one, but it looks super clean. The 300TD isn’t the type of car a general German car enthusiast will pick out of a crowd for ownership, but they do have quite a cult following in the Benz world. Known for their supreme reliability and ruggedness the 5 cylinder Garrett turbocharged diesel provides enough push to get from here to there. So though I don’t know the mileage in this case does it really matter as long as it has been maintained? It looks like the current owner has taken care of this car for instance those look like Cibié lights out front. The car comes with the 3rd row seat, an extra set of alloys with winter tires, and some extra parts. This car also has the load leveling suspension in the rear to keep the front end down with a heavy cargo. This system can be a pain to work with, but shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Parts in general for the W123 and 3.0 liter engine are plentiful.
The seller gives contact info as 607-two-five-seven-5588, the car was seen in Watkins Glen, New York, but that is an Ithaca number. The ask is $8600. There is probably some wiggle room to be had but, it is not an outrageous price by any means for a well maintained rust free version. I didn’t get a chance to really look underneath or inside, but it did look nicely preserved. That baby blue would look great off in a winter wonderland with some skis on the roof. I actually believe that the W123 300TD has held its value better than its successor the W124. Some fan should give this car a good home in the next chapter of its life.
