1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SE Cabriolet

This is the time of year you’ll invariably be asked “where do you summer?” I’m more interested in “what do you summer in?” This 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SE Cabriolet appears to be a perfect vehicle in which to holiday. This car was given a respray a few years ago along with an interior retrim, including the extensive amount of wood trim present in these models.

1967 Mercedes-Benz 200

Mercedes-Benz has never been one to adopt fads quickly, unless you count recent years. Which makes the Heckflosse, or fintail models of the late 1950s and early 1960s rather interesting, as fins on American cars were dying out. Yet Mercedes seemed determined to include them in their new offerings at the time. By the end of the 1960s, this styling feature was all but gone. This 1967 Mercedes-Benz 200D represents the end of the run for the fintail. For sale in North Carolina, this car has a lot of originality in tact and has First we’ll take a look at a late model 1967 200D that has had an engine rebuilt but has plenty of patina in tact.

1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SE

Over the last couple weeks a bunch of Mercedes-Benz 560SELs with low mileage cropped up, prompting us to feature a few of them. There’s no doubt that these were one of the most loved S class generations of all time. Advanced for their time, they also offered plenty of classic Mercedes style and durability to go along with the package. While I am a big fan of the flagship Benz of the period, I’ve maintained that my choice would be a short wheelbase 300SE, with the 3.0 liter inline six. It won’t win any races, but it’s a smooth engine and with less length, a more manageable drive around town.

Déjà vu: Two more low mileage 560SELs

Last month we featured two very clean Mercedes-Benz 560SELs, the pinnacle of the lineup for Mercedes-Benz at the time. Now another two low mileage examples have come out of the woodwork, for those pining for the good old days. The first 560SEL we’ll take a look at is exactly how I would want mine kitted out, in black over black leather. The W126 design has aged well, blending an even amount of classic and modern touches for a look that would be hard to be improved upon.

1987 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL

There’s an annex parking lot across from my apartment that houses the overflow from the local Mercedes-Benz dealer. I can’t hide my dismay at the lack of diversity in colors. Most vehicles are all silver, white, black or gray, with an odd reddish car mixed in. Look inside these new cars and there’s even less variety in terms of what you can trim out your car with, unless you take a dip into the very expensive personalized programs luxury manufacturers tend to offer. It seemed that manufacturers, including Mercedes-Benz, were a bit more adventurous years ago, with interesting cloth patterns and a wider range of leather hues on offer. This 420SEL is the first of its kind I’ve seen with a green leather interior, which is sure to raise an eyebrow with W126 fans.
