Tuner Tuesday: 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo

It is not hugely surprising that the RWB 993 was a bit polarizing; understandable given the now near cult-status of the 993 and the extreme crafting of the body. Today I have a different modified 993 to look at; this time, instead of a Carrera 2 we’re looking at a 911 Turbo that has been externally modified to look like a Ruf but it’s no poser with a claimed 659 rear wheel horsepower. Is this sacrilegious too, or are the modifications just right here?

Rare and pristine 1996 Porsche 911 993 3.8 Twin Turbo Coupe – 37k Miles

Jaw dropping is what this beauty is. You will not find a better example of a 993 on the market today. Here is your chance to own a piece of Automotive history. These 993 Turbos are increasingly becoming rare and their market value is on the rise. The handling, performance, and looks of this 993 simply can not be matched. From the built Protomotive 3.8L motor, to the KW V3 coilovers and suspension modifications, this car will put a smile on any enthusiast or car lovers face: whether parked or going into 3rd gear.

The interior and exterior of the car are pictured. But trust me, they do not do this car as much justice compared to seeing them in person. They are just immaculate.

As you can see, this 993 Turbo has been tastefully modified. Below are just some of the modifications that have been carefully thought out, researched, and performed:

3.8L Protomotive Built Motor
GT2 Evo Cams
OEM 993 N/A Twinplug Conversion
Dual Crane Hi-6 Ignition Amps
60 lb injectors
Protomotive Tune
Carbonetic Triple Plate Carbon Clutch
Custom Exhaust
KW V3 Coilovers (rides and handles like a dream)

Made 659rwhp / 642 rwtq at 17 psi and on the lowest setting of 8 psi made 467rwhp / 443rwtq

Ruf Front and Rear Bumpers
19″ Ruf Wheels
Michelin Pilot Sport tires

This vehicle is also listed locally. If an reasonable offer is made, we may end this auction at any time.

SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY!!!

The condition on this car is certainly impressive and the color combination is a bit more classic Porsche. In particular, I like the two-tone interior that I haven’t often seen on 993s. The Ruf wheels are, as always, a great addition to the car and mesh well with the Ruf front and rear bumpers. It’s both tasteful but unique at the same time and substantially more understated than the RWB. However, when you hit the loud pedal is where things have the potential for outrageous, with a monstrous 3.8 twin-turbo built by Protomotive. Honestly I don’t think there are many that could claim that the 993 Turbo is slow to begin with, but with over 75% more power available it becomes a supercar. Even average examples of the 993 Turbo are flirting with $100,000 these days with the asking price on some as much as $250,000, so it’s no surprise to see active bidding on this no reserve auction already hitting $80,000. Where will this one end up? Despite the monstrous power, I’d doubt it comes close to setting any records in the price department but it will be quite interesting to see!

this looks the goods Carter nice find!….I could do without the dramatic half lit pics and would rather see relevant pics of under carriage interior etc.
that said…the build sheet looks good really good….and Truespeed in CA is a well respected Porsche house….if this car does not trade for 125k + I would be shocked….
