2002 Laguna Seca Blue S54 Z3 M Coupe For Sale in Burlingame, California

I present you with one of the most special, sought after, pure late-model Bimmers to be produced in this era: The M Coupe. The M Coupe was born from the brainstorm of BMW engineers soon after the Z3 coupe hit the streets. It’s a car built by the enthusiast for enthusiasts. This 2002 example is one of the last of the breed and features the all-important S54 engine. The first couple of years of the M Coupe came with the same S52 variant that my old 95 M3 had. The last of them, like this one, had the later e46 M3 engine boasting over 300hp! Having driven both variants I can tell you with 100% certainty the later model engine is a huge leap forward with incredible throttle response from individual throttle bodies, double VANOS, and and drive by wire technologies. The engine is represents the highest level of engineering on the base M50 motor and has won numerous awards.

Alvin’s car is listed on BayBimmerz.net (registration required). Here are some selected images and a complete excerpt of the listing:

excerpts from BayBimmerz.net:

Here is a rare opportunity to own one of the rarest M coupes in the world. If you do your research this is one of the best cars made by BMW similar to the world known E30 M3 very sought after and highly collectible . There where 690 S54 Z3 M coupes made between 2001 and 2002. What makes this car even more rare and desirable is its a factory S54 315hp and Laguna Seca Blue color same color and motor used for the E46 M3 and is a BMW motorsport color only . Only 41 S54 M coupes worldwide came with this color and less than 6 had no moonroof . I am a BMW collector and enthusiast. This car was never been abused or tracked. It never missed any service and has new Factory clutch and Motorsport brakes. It has 75k miles and it drives even better than new. It has a lot of tasteful upgrades and is California smog legal. This is a very special enthusiast car with very hard to get aftermarket parts. Even when these parts can be sourced, they are very expensive and will make the casual observer’s eyes water for sure. While this car won’t be for everyone, when the right buyer sees this ad, it will surely find it’s new home in short order. Good luck with the sale Alvin!

Sidebar: Alvin has patiently been waiting for me to post his gorgeous M Coupe for a while now. As most readers can tell, I’ve been very behind in my listings and have been heavily relying on Evan to pick up the slack. I sincerely apologize Alvin and am taking steps to get things back in gear around here.

1984 Hartge H7S BMW e23 For Sale

When James P. forwarded this car to me, I was pretty sure I had already posted it, but going into the Hartge archives I couldn’t find it. Now I realize I posted it on my personal blog before I had ever started GCFSB. It’s been for sale by BimmerBrothers since late 2007 at least, and what’s interesting is that it was listed then for under $9k. Maybe it’s seen some love since then and thus the higher asking now at $10884. See the listing that is currently on Craigslist SF Bay:

quote from seller’s listing:

I am offering for an appreciating new owner this super rare and unique 1984 BMW Hartge H7S 5 Speed
IMMACULATE rust-free superbly-maintained example one of three believed in existence.
Hartge engine, suspension, wheels, stripes, shift knob and wheels. MUST SEE!

Doing a quick search Hartge H7S brings up hits on what I believe to be the same car that date all the way back to 2004 and 2007, which it suggests it has changed hands a few times. One of the previous owners chimes in on this thread on mye28.com. From what I can tell, it was originally being traded for under $5k and then each owner has added some work of some kind to make it a little better. What do you think — good enough to warrant $10k?
