1991 Saab 900 Convertible

By the the 1990s rolled around, the Saab 900 was getting a bit long in the tooth. With a recent investment from General Motors, a replacement for Saab’s venerable model was on the way, but the old 900 still had a bit of fight left in it. The 900 Convertible debuted in 1986 and quickly became a favorite of yuppies and otherwise well-heeled individuals, especially in coastal regions of the US. Amongst the Convertibles, one of the most sought after examples is the one like we see here for sale in Pennsylvania: the ones painted in Monte Carlo Yellow. Just over 300 examples of the 900 Convertible in this color made their way to the US, with under 900 produced in total. Want something unique to go topless in this summer? Look no further…

You are looking at an extremely nice SAAB 900, which looks garaged, regularly serviced, and taken good care of.

2.0L TURBO engine is mechanically sound, has lots of power and performs as you would expect it from Saab. Engine compartment is clean and free of any leaks. Automatic transmission shifts smooth, no slips, no skips.

The Yellow exterior is in very good condition -The body is straight, has no rust. The paint is shiny, glossy, and shows minimum of wear for the year and miles. Please check the pictures.

The Leather interior of the vehicle is in great condition. Seats show almost no wear at all for the year and miles of the vehicle. Interior looks and smells clean .

The trunk is very clean and roomy as you can see it from the pictures. This vehicle would become an excellent companion for any type of recreation or everyday driving, combining comfort and reliability. Tires were balanced, rotated, and still have planty of tread left.

I test-drove the vehicle and found to be in GREAT CONDITION for its year and miles.

I’ll admit that I’m not a huge fan of yellow. On most cars, the hue is a bit garish for my tastes. However, on the 900 Convertible, somehow, it works. This car is quirky enough and with the dark lower cladding, the shock of such a bright color is broken up and made a bit more pleasing to the eyes. The only thing that let’s this car down for me is the 3-speed automatic, but for a lot of people who want the pleasure of cruising in a convertible, they won’t be in a hurry anyway. The price for this 900 is very strong, no doubt influenced by the rare color option. If it had the manual gearbox, it would certainly be more compelling. Around $6,000 to $10,000 is the sweet spot for 900 Convertibles of this vintage in this condition. If this car sells for its ask, it might show an uptick in appreciation for this Swedish icon.

I had a 5 speed MC Yellow convertible for a few years and have a low mileage 5 speed manual ’94 convertible now. The 3 speed automatic is this car is its biggest handicap and honestly I think this price is more suitable for a 5 speed version. That being said, this car is in beautiful shape….just missing the three piece tonneau cover for the top.

Having just bought a ’93 900 Turbo Convertible, I am curious to see how this sale goes. My car is a bit worse for wear and also an auto, but it’s a solid driver with great service records and decent cosmetics. Love the spg kit on the verts.

Back in 1990 I was ready to kill in order to buy one of those. I still think the car looks fantastic. I scrapred together enough to buy a 1990 e30 M3 instead.

    What a great looking car.
