1981 BMW 320i project

Anyone want to save this one?

Someone put some effort into this E21, but it needs some help. The car has 81,200 miles and a rebuilt salvage title because a tree fell on it and that damage is still there on the roof. The car has an assortment of badges and parts thrown at it in budget high school student style, I’m not really knocking that, we all had to start somewhere right? It looks like there is some rust damage.

On a plus the car looks decent from 20 feet, has some nice rims (center caps don’t match), upgraded front seats and a manual transmission. Turn it into a more sedate commuter by pulling off the insane looking Honda S2000/Toyota Supra style coffee can exhausts and lose the blue angel eyes.

Bidding is up to $2,500 with no reserve. I wouldn’t expect it to see more than $3,000.

So many indignities and injustices and abuse endured by this innocent little E21…I truly feel sorry it.

Unfortunately, where there’s such a multitude of horrid, tasteless modifications (not to mention painted over rust, unrepaired roof damage, etc.) there is probably a significant history of driving abuse too.

The odometer might say 81,200 miles, but it probably feels closer to 181,200 miles. And that’s after you spend double the car’s purchase price to undo all the unending crappy mods and repair all the rust and roof damage.

    Not worth it.

Jesus… what an utter horrorshow of a car. Crush it and put it out of its misery.

Not that this is even close to the worst thing about this car, but I seriously doubt that those are really “BBS” wheels with literally 4 different centre caps… and a light-up shift knob???

Some cars are best left alone. My gut feeling tells me this is one of them.

An E21 320i is never going to be worth a lot of money, even if it did start out with the S package (as it appears this one did). There are just too many of them out there.
