2000 BMW 740i Sport

In my E23 post the other day, I mentioned that one of the big Bimmers I want in my barn is an E38 7er, one of the best-looking full-size sedans ever produced. An E38 740iL Sport has begun parking across the street from my house, and has reminded me of how clean its lines are. Even more taught in the 740i Sport model, this is very near the model I would have. Bringing the ever-lovely Shadowline trim and using suspension and 18″ M-Parallels to back up the Sport moniker, these cars are the business in multiple ways. With just 77k miles, this example in Texas should find a good car barn to inhabit.

I’ve decided to sell my 740i to buy an E39 M5. The car has only 78k and was dealer serviced the majority of its life in Houston. I have the maintenance records. I have owned the car since Dec 2012. Car needs nothing as it sits and is turnkey. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION INSIDE & OUT. KThere are a few minor cosmetic faultS I will list as follows:
1) Small rear bumper trim piece slightly fading.
2) Piece of wood trim slightly cracked.
3) Very minor rock chips on the front end.

K40 Laser diffuser/jammer installed. The BEST radar detector made. Costs $1500

Car is solid & fast and has no oil, power steering or water leaks leaks whatsoever.

Just looking to upgrade.

Moving up to an E39 M5 is a hard choice to fault, and there’s no question which car is higher on my list. But when it comes to entertaining, big, luxurious sedans, the first one that comes to mind for me is the E38 740i Sport. Even with the low mileage and highway confidence-building K40, this car is priced a bit high. Brought a little below $10k, this would be a ton of car and a ton of fun.

Now that our big dog has passed on, we’ve been thinking of ditching the XC70. Something like this would fit very nicely for both of us: her daily driver and a weekend car that I’d look forward to driving all over the state!

As I’ve gotten older my tastes have gravitated from sports car to sports sedan. This would be on my short list if I were in the market!
