Back at the end of 2023 I took a look at a stellar Oxford Green Metallic E39 M5. A stunning color combination, it also rang in with just 30,000 miles and an $80k price tag. Ouch! Today’s car is equally impressive as it was ordered through BMW Individual in Velvet Blue Metallic. Wow! If you were curious, just 58 out of the total 20,482 E39 M5 produced were ordered in this shade. 39 of them were left-hand drive, and it’s claimed to be one of only three in the US in this shade.
2001 BMW M5 on Craigslist
From the seller:
Brooklyn Auto Sales
Year: 2001
Make: BMW
Model: M5
Series: Individual Velvet Blue Metallic
VIN: WBSDE93471BZ98782
Stock #: 98782
Condition: Used
Mileage: 82,769
MPG: 13 city / 21 highway
Exterior: Blue
Interior: Black
Body: Sedan
Transmission: Manual
Engine: 4.9L V8 DOHC 32V
Drivetrain: RWD
Condition appears to be very good overall, and while I like the splash of two-tone on the interior, I’m not sure it’s really the best match for the outside.
It’s pretty wild to see an Individual M5 at all, because most of the regular colors were pretty compelling. Park this next to a Le Mans Blue one, for example, and I think I’d be pretty happy with the standard shade. The seller is looking for $65k, too, and I think I’d drop the extra $15k into the Oxford Green one with 1/3 the mileage, to be honest. Still, if you really need to stand apart in the crowd, you’re unlikely to come across the other two people in the US that share the same shade M5 as you. It’s about as individual as you can get.

This is a very bold color on a vehicle all about subtlety.
