However, it’s rather rare you see a 928 of any sort prepped for competition use. More of a grand touring machine, these wouldn’t be on the radar of most track day enthusiasts. However, this 1989 928GT 5-speed for sale in Vancouver, British Columbia, has been prepared just so, with an FIA log book to go along with it. Care to take the road (or track) less traveled? 1989 PORSCHE 928GT Race Car. Fully documented maintenance history since the days it was a road car. CACC (FIA) Log Book, Current British Columbia Title (Registration). Documented race history – entry sheets, race photos, etc. Class champion and a class track record – I get to keep the trophies. It is impossible to list all that has been done, the list would be too long but here are a few things: Stock motor with low miles on the timing belt and the water pump. Stock GT LSD transaxle with 2,73 final drive. Autothority LH and EZK chips, Devek headers, dual 3.5’ exhaust, Devek fully adjustable front sway bar, hard connected Bilstein shocks with Hypercoil springs and adjustable perches, front upper control arms from pre 86 car to allow for greater camber adjustment range. Short shifter, recent clutch. Sparco Junior seat, window net, 5-point harness (needs to be re-webbed). Very well constructed roll cage. The wheels are Kinesis K28R 11×18 fronts and 13×18 rear. Tires (275x35x18 front and 335x30x18 rear) are a very common size. The AMB is included. The car has been very reliable finished every race it started; usually winning it’s class. It has been consistently faster than well driven C5 Corvettes and 911 RS America race cars in the same class. It is easy to drive, very predictable handling and lots of mechanical grip. Lots of torque!

It’s no secret that 928 prices have been on the rise a bit, from recent examples we’ve seen. But what about this stripped out track car? Does it diminish the value? Most folks looking for a Porsche to use in competition wouldn’t normally pick a 928, so I think a vehicle like this might be a bit of a tough sell. Then again, this auction has a lot of followers, so you never know. It sure would be fun to get behind the wheel of this V8 beast and reel in some lesser machines down the straights.
