1987 BMW M6

I was sitting in the airport the other day scanning my Facebook news feed when I came across some old photos of the 1980s sitcom Moonlighting with actress Cybill Shepard driving a BMW 635CSi. It was appropriate that one of the quintessential eighties television series featured prominently one of the quintessential cars from the decade. In 1987, BMW gave the US market what they had been seeking in the form of the M6. The E24 was already a decade old by the time this version appeared. However, this was one potent super coupe for the time, with the 256 horsepower, 3.5 liter inline-6 under the hood. This M6 for sale is a two owner car with under 40,000 miles, perfect for someone looking for a treat to take to the next club meet.

Price: No reserve auction

I am pleased to offer this beautiful 1987 BMW E24 M6. A True Icon of BMW’s High-Performance “M” Series.

This is a US Spec car so you have no worries about it being confiscated and crushed as with the Euro spec cars. This is a 2 owner car with extremely low mileage – 37,800 +/- miles. Car is in pristine condition and gorgeous with it’s red exterior and tan leather interior. VIN # is WBAEE140XH2560659.

Seller notes that:

AC blows cold
Sunroof works fine
Still has original metric tires on correct original wheels
New BMW OEM battery
All original manuals and tools
Still has the original AM/FM Cassette player in place
Everything works

Owner spent a ton of money in the last year maintaining the car and changing wear items with all new OEM parts:

All rubber components were placed with OEM (bushings, O-rings, hoses etc. Every bulb in the dash was replaced – all work now.

This is very likely the lowest mileage and most original M6 on the planet. If you need one of these for your BMW or German car collection, this is definitely THE ONE!!

Last October, we saw a 1987 M6 sell for $18,999. The seller gives some pricing speculation of his own, but from what we’ve seen, we think this one should pull in the solid mid $30,000 range and perhaps glance $40,000. Like the Mercedes-Benz 560SL and Porsche 968 and 928, these M6s are icons from the past that are being steadily snapped up by collectors keen to relive their youth.

I knew it wouldn’t take you guys long to find this one.
I was trying to keep the bidding under the radar. (I know, very selfish of me). But, these are on my list and am regretting not buying the Bronzit one you featured not too long ago. It was just a couple of miles from my house and under $25k.

The Moonlighting BMW was so classy at the time it was epic. On a par culturally with a 5000tq.

if this is a US Spec car….then the mistake in the ad I will attribute to the seller not being the owner and not being told the correct specs..
the glaring one being the suspension..unless the owner changed it out..
