1990 BMW M3

I don’t write M3s up as much these days because the continuing story of “yep, sweet car but just becoming utterly impractical to buy” can be depressing for even the most optimistic. It’s nice to check in every once in a while and see what a very nice, standard example goes for. No swaps or rims or rollcages or baby-diapered creampuff, just a reasonable 116k miles and decent everything. Could use a lot more details from the seller, but this looks about as solid a “baseline” as we could get.

1990 BMW M3 for sale on eBay

Car runs and drives like a champ.

Serviced regularly and always warmed up before driven.

Everything on the car was kept stock and original except for the MP3 player/Stereo.

A/C not working,

Power windows and locks.

Color: Silver (rare color that year).

Interior: Black leather is in great shape.

116k Original miles.

5-Speed.

Starting at $17k and Buy-It-Now at $25k, my guess is this would be a $20-22k car, but who knows. The simple fact that it is as unmolested as they come could make a value at any price for a well-heeled enthusiast or, less excitingly, collector.

I don’t understand listing a car like of that calibar yet not even bother to vacuum it. To me, that tells me volumes about the seller and car upkeep.

Zlatan makes an excellent point. If the seller can’t be bothered to clean up the car for pictures, what else has he failed to do? In addition the pictures are of such poor quality it is hard to tell much about the car from them. Better go see this one in person.

Another black mark: “A/C not working.” Well, why isn’t it working? What is wrong with it? Better yet, why haven’t you fixed it? At least he didn’t say “just needs a recharge.”

And my final point on this car: the seller states “Everything on the car was kept stock and original except for the MP3 player/Stereo.” Except it wasn’t. The wheels and tires are clearly from a 740/840 car.

After all of this, you have to start wondering how long the seller has owned the car and how much they actually know about an E30 M3. This is crucially important as an M3 requires a whole lot more owner participation than, say, a Camry.

too many question marks with this car for it to be a 20k+ car…in spite of the low mileage…
I’d be checking body panels looking for the vin tags if he wants mid 20’s.
what does this make my 89 w/79k on the odo worth then???.
I do agree that Lachsilber was a rare color period for these cars…as most got them in Alpine, Henna, or like mine Diamond Black….
    nothing mentioned about maintenance either????

Omg why didn’t buy 1 of these in the 90’s when they were affordable
..wish I was a wiser car guy then…guy @ my college selling a dark silver with red interior that was a mess interior wise I was shortsighted & picky then & didn’t like the red interior he wanted $6000 it had 70,000 mile in 1995…now that I really understand its place in the sport car world I
    can’t afford a 150,000 mile E30 M3…
