1991 BMW 318i Convertible

$_57 (1)

The 318i Convertible may not be the quintessential E30 choice for the power hungry out there. In Brilliantrot and equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox such as we see here with this 1991 example for sale in Florida, I can suddenly see myself enjoying miles of carefree motoring along a coastline somewhere. By 1991, the E30 Convertible would be on its last legs, but not before it had made itself an icon of the upwardly mobile of the 1980s. Looking over the pictures of this car with a mere 55,000 miles on the clock, it reminds me of what made me fall for the E30 3 series in the first place, many years ago.

You are viewing one of the nicest examples of an All Original 1991 BMW 318i Convertible with only 55,915 actual miles. This E30 has had only 2 non-smoking owners and has been garage kept it’s entire life. It was mainly used as a 2nd snow bird car in Sarasota for the past 10 years or so hence the low miles. It has never been involved in any accidents and a perfectly clean Carfax report is available upon request. It has just been fully serviced and needs nothing. All power features are working as new including ice cold A/C, power windows, locks, mirrors, original stereo/tape player and antenna. All instrument gauges, interior & exterior lighting and even the original factory BMW alarm with remote are working perfectly.

This BMW runs as good as it looks. The 1.8 liter 4-Cylinder with DOHC runs silky smooth and very responsive and the 5-Speed manual transmission shifts flawlessly though all gears. It drives down the road super smooth and tight with no noises or vibrations.

This BMW is truly a sight for sore/bored eyes. The original factory red (Brillantrot) paint has a deep showroom shine with very few stone chips or light scratches to mention. The original convertible soft top, yes original, is in excellent condition showing very little wear from age. The original plastic back window shows very good as well. The original bottle cap wheels are free from curb rash and shine like new and have recent Yokohama tires all around. I removed the 318i emblem off the trunk for a cleaner, more Euro look but will be included or re-installed if you prefer.

The interior looks like new showing virtually no wear on the original sport seats, carpets, door panels, center console and dash. It honestly even has that new 1980’s BMW 318i smell if you catch my drift. Custom made black and red Coco mats were installed to perfect the Classic European motoring style. Also included is the original owners manuals with unopened BMW audio cassette tape, original tool kit and unused full spare wheel, tire and jack.

This 1991 318i is a car that was truly ahead of its time and will remain a well admired modern classic for the rest of its life. I trust this one will go to a real BMW enthusiast who will give it the best possible home that it deserves.

Please call me with any questions you may have or for more photos of this remarkable 1991 BMW 318i Convertible.

This 318i Convertible certainly is one of the nicest we’ve seen here at GCFSB, made even more attractive by the color combination and manual gearbox. The asking price of just under $13,000 seems within reason, given what we’ve seen higher mileage E30s bring, most notably Tourings, the 325is and ubiquitous M3. It might not be the fastest, best handling or most practical E30, but in such great shape with low miles, it makes a compelling case. I certainly wouldn’t mind calling this one my own.
