It’s no secret that the first generation BMW M3 has reached icon status with enthusiasts. Overlooked for many years, it finally has the respect that I thought it deserved all this time. Very mint examples are changing hands in the $30,000 to $40,000 range while very rough, worn out examples are still pulling well over $10,000. I like this particular example for sale in Newbury, Massachusetts because it splits the middle of garage queen and clapped out driver.
1991 BMW M3 on Craigslist Boston
Nice, straight, stock, 1991 BMW e30 M3 with 79,600 miles. WBSAK0318MAE34570 Brilliant Red exterior with Natur Beige leather interior. This car isn’t a Concours garage queen, just a nice car that wasn’t driven very much.
The seller doesn’t provide a very thorough description, but if the condition is consistent with the ad, it should just hopefully need little more than a freshening and maybe a few mechanical fixes. It is heartening to see the original alloys and nothing in the way of performance modifications; hopefully an indication that it wasn’t run too hard. If this M3 could be snagged for a shade under $20,000, it would appear to be a good deal.

Craigslist add, little details, pics near an industrial building. Looks good, but confidence level is low.
Considering this car is being sold by an independent BWM repair/service shop and there is no mention whatsoever of the condition of the car, service history, etc. I would run not walk away from this.
Given that the car is in Newbury MA and that is in the backyard of Turner and VSR I’m sure a quick call to both of them would tell you a lot about the car… If they know it buy it, if they don’t know it buyer beware!
Thats a heck of a deal if the car is decent
