1992 Volkswagen Golf Country

Any good enthusiast of foreign cars should have a list of which unicorns they want for each new year of eligible 25-year old import status. This Golf Country reminds me that 2017 will be a big year for me. Just look at it. The first time I saw and found out about the Golf Country I bled from my ears because my brain was spinning so hard. What… The… F? Lifted 4WD Mk2 Golf seemed like the coolest oddball that I’d never heard of. The one comes adorned with awesome Country decals with a ragtop sunroof and has covered just 113k miles. I’m setting an alarm to remind me to set my eBay followed searched to Golf Countrys in three years.

I sell my VW Golf Country 1.8 Manual (98hp) petrol with 183.000 kms / 113.000 mls.
Equipped with a Webasto electric sunroof and removable towing hook. Car is located and registered in Germany, I can help with arranging shipping.

VIN is: WVWZZZ1GZMW696582 As car was produced for Europe, eBay does not accept my VIN and I had to enter a US VIN for an older Golf. This is what Wikipedia says about the VW Golf Country:

“There was also a version called Golf Country (3,000 cars), designed for light off-road driving. It had more suspension travel, four-wheel drive, bullbars (generally over a single headlight grille), a skid plate for protecting the engine area, and a spare wheel mounted externally on the back. The Golf Country was particularly popular in Alpine regions in central Europe.”

The ultimate VW garage contains both a Golf Country and Rallye. Each is own kind of weirdo, but where the Rallye could be mistaken for just another tuner, this Golf could wear some BFGoodriches, go anywhere, and constantly blow minds. Tick. Tick. Tick.

  1. Does this come with a gun rack for the rear window? I didn’t know the had “good old boys” over in Germany, but I guess this is what they drive

  2. Love it. I would bet they are fairly capable off road, up until a low range transfer case is required.

  3. Imagine the new VW GTD with a Syncro option.
    Long live the Golf Country!
